Seller claiming to have earnt $310 in first 4 days running his site, what method could this be?

Hi

ive come across quite a few flippa listings like the one below...

They seem to be popping up a lot

https://flippa.com/2638778-earned-31...lly-outsourced

some saying things like made $800 dollars in first 10 days. And the seller goes onto sell the site for about $1500.

Obviously, common sense tells me that if its making that much in ten days why not just hold onto it for a month and selling it for like 10,000 or even longer.

So there must be some short term traffic these sellers are using to make these sales, any clue as to what it may be ?

Other than the obvious suggestion which is adwords, as the seller has already said he doesn't use adwords.

Some help would be greatly appreciated

      Most likely paying for traffic.

I was always under the impression that most paid traffic never converts, atleast never this quickly. And the seller doesnt mention anywhere that he/she has paid for traffic. Surely they should mention that. ?

Surely they should, but that doesn't mean they will.

Also, the site could have made that much 'gross' but that little gross detail wasn't included. The net profit after expenses is what is needed. Star struck newbies might not even think about that, or ask about it.

I don't hang around flippa, but isn't there a way to ask questions like that about the sale? 1. What was the source of traffic, and 2. was that gross, or net profit?

Most probably, those sellers will never mention their traffic method, but the obvious truth is that they are using some paid traffic systems. And they sell those site fast so as to make up for the high traffic cost. Selling it takes the cost off them. Have you ever seen a buyer of such websites making such earning? That is the secret.

If you contact the seller you will see that most of them have launched a service. They promote the service (like article writing etc) on various forums and make people order on the site. It's an easy and profitable way to earn a few thousands every week.

turn key sites can make a lot of money as for the traffic source it could be another form of ppc ,cpm there are a ton of different traffic sources out there he also could forum posting and if use this he will need to do it regurlar to keep the traffic comming and if hasnt the time for it and just sell the site for a quiqk buck its normal not to weight a month but of course he could be lying

The old adage.. If it seems to good to be true..........

No-one would sell a website for $310 if it could make $310 every 4 days.
There needs to be promotion of some kind and that means time or money.

That being said there is no reason why could not make a reseller site like that make money but don't expect it to happen on it's own.

    It could be fraud.

A lot of fraudulent sellers on Flippa set up a new site, and redirect traffic to it from another site that already has a traffic flow plugged into it.

They have links to it as well, also through other domains they own.

They turn on the links and the traffic, to build a track record for the domain to increase its selling price.

Then when the domain has been purchased and transferred, they set up a new domain, and change the links and the traffic flow to the new domain, to rinse-and-repeat the process, to sell another worthless domain to some schmuck who believes the deception.

It could be paid traffic, or just non-SEO ways of driving free traffic

I'm curious though- why do you think that paid traffic doesn't convert? If it didn't convert, the biggest marketers in the game wouldn't be using it....
