Hi,

I have several mini sites that makes me just a little bit money (I still don't get my first check yet).

I'm considering to invest more on them,

But is the mini sites a business model reliable for generating income in long term?

Anyone experience with that?

It depends on what you mean with mini sites.

mini sites: sites with exact match keyword domain name, and only 2 articles each, monetized with adsense.

I build mini sites and make good money doing it, but I do not think it is a long term solution. Mini sites could quickly be swept away with any slight change in algorithm or by someone who simply does better SEO and link building

My mini sites were a stepping stone for me, they are the base of my earnings but now that I have a nice income stream I am trying to solidify my earnings.

I am now working to build QUALITY websites to earn money from as I think this is a wiser long term goal.

Sure build mini sites to learn the in's and out's / get your foot in the door but always keep reaching up and trying to get to the next level.

You can start off small to test the waters and if it looks like you have a winning niche you can then expand it out to 30,40 or 50 pages to become a grandaddy of the niche.

When you do your research, find a niche you think will be profitable with your keyword phrase and 5 categories. If it proves to be a winner, drill down on those 5 categories with 5-10 posts each.

I wish I had only 4-5 sites to work on but went on a domain buying frenzy and cannot devote enough time to them all. Work on 3, find a winner or winners out of those, build them out and start on others.

Once you have built a site out the only maintenance is backlinking (which can be automated or outsourced) and a little tweaking of the content.

    Good luck

First of all you will have to make sure that your mini website must be search engine friendly and can start ranking on the first page then only you can expect some money either by placing ads or selling your services. Cheers

Mini sites are great for flipping if they are earning a little bit of cash.
I have flipped several on Flippa from $95 up to $295 and the customers are very happy with the results.
This could be something to consider if they are earning a little. Other wise put in a bit of SEO work and get them ranked then they could start earning you much much more.

    Hope this helps

not for me. i have several sites promoting amazon goods. i get between 3-8 orders daily which generates me around £60/month ($100). complete autopilot, but these sites have been exhausted and can't give any more, thus my income is capped.

i'm working on an authority site at the moment which i plan to expand indefinitely

If your sites are earning $100 per month without you doing much why don't you build more like them to build your income.
Build 10 sites or 20 and you will be making $1000 - $2000 per month.

simply put - i don't want the responsibility of owning that many sites. it doesn't feel right, and as 7-8 sites are earning only $100, it would take substantially more to earn a good living from them.

i'm not a fan of building dozens of sites just to squeeze small amounts of cash from them - i now much prefer the idea of one large site with thousands of indexed pages

Creating mini sites and adding google adsense and infolinks works well for me. The most important thing is KEYWORD RESEARCH and writing quality content and great backlinks.

I use mini sites for lead capture which then feeds people into my email system for more relationship building. I believe in Authority Sites too, so am a believer of generating consistent good content to build authority leading them into my sales funnel

  • If you're a beginner, better don't try with multiple sites simultaneously. Start with 2 or 3 domains (make sure it has some keywords in it, atleast 3 words (dnt use 2 words)). And you should know how to monetize it. Do article marketing, bookmark submission, facebook marketing, youtube marketng try to do all kinds of marketing, then you will have plenty of traffic..

If you're looking for a long term, dont keep keywords that has less traffic, make sure the keyword in your domain atleast has some gud traffic. and do monetizing consistently..

    All the best!
