Articlebase article has come back from the dead.

When I first started I used to write articles for article directories such as ArticlesBase, EzineArticles, GoArticles etc. Mainly because they were easy to rank in Google. Well I learnt from my mistakes when Google updated it's algorithm earlier this year, and pretty much all my articles went from Page 1/2 to beyond 50th Page. This is when I focused on building websites and I'm glad this happened to be honest because this is when I made real money.

However, I had a nice surprise this morning to see that one of my articlebase articles has jumped to 4th in Google! Not sure why this happened, but I'm not complaining. I've already seen a nice increase of traffic to my squeeze page! My website is 2nd in Google, so I'm getting a fair chunk of the searches for my keyword.

Anybody experience the same sort of thing recently?

Hubpages just had an updates so that each author is on a sub domain. It will be interesting to see how Google looks at this, as it's possible that each subdomain won't be as influenced by other (low quality?) content as much as before, when all content was on the same domain.

This is exactly whats happened with articlesbase aswell. Just noticed my pen name is at the start of the domain. Interesting.

Yeah, Articlebase is the only place worth posting your articles - everywhere else is a waste of effort.

(just kidding - it's average at best).

    .
I have lots of articles published all over the place and don't
necessarily check where they rank, but I still get good visits
from my articles in ArticlesBase and EzineArticles. So, they
are not entirely dead, as we think,

My squidoo lenses are doing great!

Honestly, I think most sites that stick around after an algorithm change eventually come back. My main and first site has been knocked around by google three times in the last 13 years, and it always comes back.

Asking for "thanks" will lower your level of respect and achieve the opposite of what you want.

I wonder if this has anything to do with AB switching to the subdomain system. Hubpages did the same, and it seems to have boosted their rankings a bit. However, hubpages pretty much refuses to accept anything remotely promotional (a link of mine to a site that contained one clickbank link out of dozens of pages was described as 'dubious content')

So I'd rather build my own site still.

To the OP: I think you are mistaken.

I hear frequently at the WF that article marketing is dead. See here for proof.

I never said it is dead? I said my article came back from the dead.

It's still strange tho, they came back from dead. Maybe there's been another update by Google? Only, Google didn't tell anyone.
