Money Counting Syndrome

Does anyone else have a problem with watching their paypal / bank account / CPA / leads / conversions obsessively?

I spend a good amount of my day measuring success and it's quite distracting from getting the actual job done.

Looking for a few time management tips and solutions for keeping focus on the project at hand.

Not the money specifically, more the conversions. But that's necessary when it comes to split-testing.

I know what you mean! And this can be truly distracting. I try to limit myself to checking money starts twice daily - once in the morning, and one before I shut down. Checking more often will keep you away from what you really need to be doing, i.e. working on the stuff that is actually making you money!

Split testing and optimising is essential but there comes to a point where continually checking stats falls into obsession.

I was the worst offender when I started making good money with CPA, I would continually check and refresh my stats all day long, it stemmed from a fear of losing money and a nice healthy surge of ego boosting.

It's still nice to see numbers stacking up now but like email I've limited the amount of times I will check stats, for productivity and my own sanity.

Just don't check them. Then you'll be pleasant surprised when you see a ton of money in your account.

I know it's hard to will yourself not to, but it's definitely doable.

I kinda agree with James on this- if you're using free traffic that is.

If you're using paid traffic then it definitely won't work- ya gotta know your EPCs and split-test a bit more.

That's kinda normal, it comes for everyone, but don't worry, after some time you will just

naturally reduce the time checking the account, 1-2 times a day is the best imo.

I don't think it is an issue unless you are only focusing on that for a good part of the day. I do look at the numbers and few times a day to make sure I'm on track - nothing wrong with that. Anything measured improves.

I try not to check too often. I can go through periods when I check more, and then others much less. If I ever get to checking too much all the time I will know I have to deal with it

As long as it's not obsessive compulsive it's all good. It is a source of motivation after all

I used to do that in the beginning, checking adsense account, my maxbounty, CJ and other cpa accounts. But, when the real money started coming in, I become more motivated, so stooped doing that so I could have more time to work.

However, I find it a bit motivating or as a kind of recharging tool, if you will, to look at your earnings from your online work. Whenever I feel down or not motivated to work, I check my accounts and a look back at previous months earnings, and that alone (sometimes) is more than enough top push me through another down time.

I feel it is not only bad luck, when you keep looking at your paypal account.

You are not doing your job.

    1) Helping and enriching peoples lives.

    2) Showing signs of un-greediness.

I have found that if you help peolpe, or offer help, the money will follow you wherever you go.

I never go to the bank account atm and check my account. I only go and take money out, when I feel I have done my job and reached my goals of helping people out for that week. Have I done enough, have I fulfilled my tasks and weekly goals. Have I really enriched peoples lives this week.

You can attract money, no matter who you are or where you are from. But what are you intentions first. Can you really take money with you when you die...no.

But when you die, can you take memories with you, that you helped people, helped them better their lives or solve annoying problems that are life changing?. You betcha....that is worth more than money in my eye....or maybe I am just at weirdo LOL.

OK, we need money to buy bread and put food on the table. But there is alot to think about here.

Getting greedy does not work. Look at the financial collapse we have, it was from an evil govt who set us up and knows how greedy we are. They were pulling the strings the whole time. Dont become like them.

Sit there and count your money. But the reason you might not have as much as you think you should is that you are not helping enough people!....get out the help more! Then after you done that, go help some more!!!

Do this and the money will flow. But you will soon realise what I am talking about. Money is good, but helping people and enriching their lives is much more priceless, and getting testimonials from somone who said your product (that you created with your bare hands) is the best money they have spent....how can you put a price on that.

Your focused on short term gains rather than long term success. Keeping your eye on the hour to hour activities is keeping you from looking at the big picture. It is a very common problem even with stock traders or investors.

The solution: Change your mind set and strategy. Understand that your goal is long-term success not short term.

    Good Luck!

When I'm not actually working I do, when I'm actually working I don't check anything. But when I'm not doing anything sometimes I'll just hit refresh over and over until my fiancee makes me do something else.
