First time selling on Clickbank -- advice?

I've applied to be a publisher on Clickbank for the first time. I have a solid product (last link in my sig), and I'm working up a really good sales page (the one I have now has good copy, but the layout sucks.) I have ONE sale to a non-family-member, just happened 3 days ago (site has been getting 2-3 hits/day for almost month, sold a copy on my 54th visitor).

The question I have is -- how do I maximize the 'launch' of this, my first product? I have no list, I don't really know any good affiliates in my niche...is there a place to meet these people?

Someone mentioned "doing a JV". What does that mean, and where can I learn how to do it?

Similarly, anyone have any advice of what NOT to do for a 'launch' like this?

THANK YOU!

hey man...i believe JV stands for "Joint Venture" ...basically when you hook up with someone who you can benefit from and vice versa.

    Take care

A JV is a Joint Venture. You have a product, someone else will have a customer database in the form of a list in your niche, and the two of you can pool resources and send an email out to the list. These JVs are not easy to find, because most quality marketers with big lists will receive a great deal of them, often poorly presented.

There are a lot of idiots out there who will use ridiculous subject lines to trick the marketer into opening the email and reading the content. This might even work to that extent, but getting the JV will be another story! The only hope you will have is if you approach people properly and show a genuine interest in their website and products.

If your product is solid you could try creating a give-away viral ebook which lets the reader in on some of the secrets, but makes them hungry to discover the rest! Marketers can brand these viral ebooks with their own affiliate links, and make commissions just from giving the book away.

Don't forget the tried and trusted. Article marketing may not be glamourous, but it does work. Keep writing and submitting articles and you will make some sales. These will be sales on which you won't have to pay an affiliate commission. These sales should also help your product rise in the Clickbank marketplace, making it more visible to the affiliates who browse it looking for products on a regular basis.

Yes, you need different layout. The way it is now, visitors won't read your page at all. Do you have a good template that is easy on the eyes?

Please find affiliates in the joint venture section and other JV network sites .

At the same time , if you think your product is good -find highly influential marketers in your niche and ask them for JV .

    I hope it helps .

    Essence,

You need to hire a professional graphic designer to do a header, footer, background, order button + ebook cover for you. Right now, the salespage is rather unattractive and does not capture my attention in any way.

You should consider hiring a copywriter as well. There's plenty of good copywriters and graphic designers in the Warriors for Hire section.

I don't know any forums dedicated to JVs in your niche, but Joint Venture (JV) Lists, Announcements, Blogs, And Community Forums. is a forum dedicated to JVs, usually Internet Marketing. As long as you contribute something of value to the community, your JV proposal should be well received. What you should do is offer an attractive commission and an excellent set of affiliate promotional tools (i.e. swipe emails, banners, ads, etc.).

    What NOT to do:
    -offer below 50% commissions
-barely keep in contact with JV partners
-have few promo tools for JV partners/affiliates

What to do to maximize launch:
-keep in constant contact with JV partners
-create huge affiliate contest with crazy prizes (cash is always nice)
-build buzz with free pre-launch content (e.g. interviews, videos)
-social bookmark until your arms fall off (i.e. youtube, squidoo, propeller, digg...)
(oh yeah, not really web 2.0, but ezinearticles, goarticles, etc.)

That's just a basic kind of preliminary list to what you should do. Mind you, I've never created my own product, so I may be talking out of my ass. Someone back me up here

j/k, you should do all of the above, but there is a lot more to it.

    Good luck,
    Curtis

Before you get any JV you'll need to know if your site is actually converting visitors into buyers. Do some SEO work, social bookmarking, articles etc. or whatever works for you (of course the easiest way to get instant traffic is PPC with adwords if you have a bit of a budget). Once you have got around ~1000 quality unique visitors then you'll have some data on how well your page is actually going to do. With only 2-3 hits a day you have no idea.

Google has a free split test script you might want to use to improve your site BTW.

Yeah, I have a professional graphics and webpage designer working up a new page for me -- I know that's obviously Step One.

I just want to be sure that I have a solid plan about what to do once it's up. My Adwords budget isn't too great, but I can easily put together a few giveaway 'reports' and maybe do a bit of video marketing.

Any ideas about where to give away a 'viral report' about diet/nutrition?

Thank you all for your excellent advice!

Try to look for affiliates in your niche and search in Google for your keywords. On the first page contact all the webmasters to see if they have a list and tell them about your product.
Be persistent if you want to do this, because it will take a few emails before some of these guys will write back.
