Twitter hasn't been helpful for me in marketing but hopefully it comes in handy for you. Too many bots and people who don't care about links on the site.

I am about to create my own twitter marketing strategy. I think the most important thing is to give something of value on every post you make. I saw a top competitor list what they were eating for lunch. Really. No one is going to care about silly posts. Everyone wants something in return whether it be a great insight, or a promotion or whathaveyou.

I would begin by analyzing your top 10 competitors on twitter. See what kind of posts they deliver. See what kind of material was retweeted by their followers.

I would then go through their own lists and see who is active or not. tweet a few people and start opening up a connection with people. To go around and follow every person may not be worth it -- I think establishing a connection with someone before you follow them could be the best approach. I'd rather have 10 people actively participating and engaged on my list than 1000 people who don't even care. That's me though.

It's about what you have to offer and how you can establish that relationship with someone that brings on the value of having them follow you and you follow them. Things take time so don't expect a huge response right away. My 2 cents on the matter.

I get ninety percent of my traffic from Twitter, at least a hundred views a day. My site is only a couple of months old, so I don't know if that says I get lots of traffic from my Twitter followers or I'm not much good at SEO. I'm climbing up the first page of social promotion slowly. I can get you cheap traffic from Twitter from micro job sites where people are paid a few cents per tweet, or per click on a tweet. They also pay people to like, and share in their news feed on Facebook, stumble, digg, Google plus one, and even write articles. I can't afford to pay for traffic myself, as I haven't made a page with a good conversion rate, or opt-in rate yet.

One tactic I use .... if you have an RSS feed of your blog or news site, or autoblog, you can setup an automatic tweet to your twitter account every half hour using Twitterfeed!

What this will do is that you can get extra traffic via the search function of Twitter that finds your tweet with your link to the post . If it's a popular keyword you get lot's of Twitter traffic.

I get 1000+ views per month to my sites from twitter, and I don't post very much. I have them spread out over 4 accounts all in different niches and they each have 2-3k followers which I acquired semi-manually using tweepi (it's free for basic use).

MHD, I don't have any recommended training programs yet. I think if you do some basic research on these boards you'll find something that works. Personally, I have spent some time analyzing Pat's Smart Passive Income site. Seems chock full of some good stuff.

What I recommend is having a pad of paper (gasp yes not digital) and going through the website, take some notes of strategies that appeal to you. Perhaps check out some of the other recommendations from members on the boards. Take notes on strategies. Then once you've gone through say 3 or 4 twitter strategies see which overlap a bit, see what sticks out in approach and try developing something on your own.

I'm still developing my site as we speak and i find it a bit overwhelming to really sit down and hash out the marketing portion of it just yet. I come to these boards to get some idea and bookmarks along the way so when I'm ready to get knee deep I'll have my resources in line. I'll do just what I described above.

    Keep it real boss
