How LinkedIn Made Me Money Within 2 Days!

It is almost 4am but I am still awake and wanted to share a little bit of motivating information for those of you who know what LinkedIn is. If you don't know what it is, then this may inspire you.

I have an account on LinkedIn that was neglected for quite some time but I recently decided to update it. My profile has a lot of connections (700+) and I thought it would be interesting to test out a marketing campaign.

So what I did was messaged all of my connections and told them about one of my websites, asking for advice, feedback, and help finding potential customers.

I waited about 24 hours and noticed I had about 50 messages in my inbox. About 5 of them were spam but all of the others were interested members who were willing to help spread the word about my website using their sources.

So I waited another 2 days and checked my Google Analytics reports for my website and noticed the traffic went up over 400% and I received multiple sales + Adsense earnings.

I am still receiving helpful messages and new leads within LinkedIn. So this is just a reminder to use all of your available social media websites and to make a lot of connections so that you can increase your website/product's popularity and earn money. Plus you never know who you may connect with on this website. You could find some great business partners, investors, advertisers, customers, or other useful people.

So stay positive, expand your opportunities, and try out LinkedIn if you haven't already!

    And what kind of website did you show them? Was it related to business services or what was it?

    I'm going to hold up my hand and say I know I should use linkedin but I don't even have a profile on there, right now.

    I will make that one of my things to do for September, to get on Linkedin and see what I can do to get interest for my offline services.

      It was one of my own websites and products. I'm sure you could promote CB products too but I would suggest you give them a link to a landing page and explain what the product is and how it can help them.

      It was one of my websites promoting a line of products. It was not related to business at all which was kind of cool that I had success with it in LinkedIn.

    Thanks for sharing this. I have 2000+ connections on LinkedIn and haven't payed attention to it. Blasted out my link a couple times, didn't see much response so I ignored it. I'll have to give "asking for feedback" a try.

    For those of you who don't know how to get a lot of contacts on LinkedIn, look into LinkedIn Open Networking (also known as LION).

    That is amazing. You should probably sell that as either a Warrior for hire offer or create a WSO explaining to people how to do it for themselves as people are so lazy these days they won't figure it out for themselves. We want someone to hold our hands every step of the way!

      I have been building a large list since I have had LinkedIn, made some great contacts, and I have also searched for a lot and just added people who looked like they could help. Almost anyone on there will accept your connection.

      Yeah try actually sending messages to your connections. You are only allowed to send messages to 50 connections at a time so it takes a while but can really pay off in the end.

      Hmmm I have never thought of that but I may actually look into writing an e-book. Think it would be worth it?

    Thanks for sharing this. I guess I should know that you could use LinkedIn for that purpose. I just haven't really decided to go that way yet, I am only using to look and sound professional

    I am actually a bit surprised about your response rate, but it is great to know that this is a way to gain traffic.

      It is a mixture of a lot of different individuals from different markets. But the nice thing is that they each can help me out in unique ways, so variety is key. I am still receiving traffic and responses from these people. Plus I now have received 4 advertising offers for people who want to pay to advertise on my website.

      So it has been very effective.

    Hey Brian, this is great.

    I think that your LinkedIn list should be treated in the same way you would nurture your email list.

    If you bombard them all the time, they will get fed up with you.

    But ... if you deliver value, get involved in conversations, take part in groups etc... then you can (from time to time) call upon that list and ask them a question or send them to a site for feedback.
