Is the IM niche the best niche to start in?

The IM niche seems to have many people ready to buy products that tell them how to make money, do SEO, write articles, etc, etc. There are so many resources and blogs out there dedicated to this niche.

After extensive research, I have yet to come across another niche where people are as eager to part with their money in the hopes of learning how to make more money. The only other niche that I have found that comes close is "forex" and "daytrading" and the like.

Of course there are alot of the "diet pills" and all that health stuff, and making money in real estate, but IM seems the best for the number of sub-niches and the ease with which one can write/modify ebooks and peddle as one's own.

So is this the best niche to start in? If I come up with a WSO I can market it right here, if I come up with a new diet pill, I have to do animal and humann trials, FDA approvals, and there is no WF to sell it on!

If you know how to work the system for a salesfunnel and provide a lot of value, then I believe the IM niche is very easy to dominate. At times you have to be a little patient though because a lot of people know what you are doing with an autoresponder or your affiliate link. That isn't the case with other niches which is why it's also pretty easy to take advantage of those as well. But the IM niche is still the best one to start in, in my opinion.

The IM niche is the absolute worst niche to start out in.

Look at it this way - would you take dietary advice from a fat doctor?

Even if the doctor is very knowledgable and trained for many years and highly qualified - if they're not able to do what they're telling you to do then it ruins their credibility.

The same as when you make a LOT of money - you do not go to your local bank advisor for financial advice - someone who makes less than $100k a year is not in a position to tell you how to look after $1M a year.

So - just because you can read about IM and see other people selling stuff doesn't mean that you are suddenly qualified to tell others how to make money.

It's like a depressed person running a life coaching business - they need the help more than their clients do.

It might seem like shooting fish in a barrel to sell to desperate newbies who will buy almost anything as long as it comes with Hyped-up promises of quick riches, but because some of those people are so desperate - there's already a LOT of people cutting their own throats to get their hands into those wallets.

For the same effort it would take to get heard above the noise in IM you could create a great brand in a niche where you actually have real value and experience to offer.

If you don't have any real value of your own to offer then maybe that's something you should consider.

We've all seen the "even a 12 year old can make a ton of money in his spare time" hype - but it's not normal and it's not something you should base your expectations on.

Rather than looking for the easy shooting-fish-in-a-barrel option - look at where you want your life to go and what you love to spend your time doing, and start your business as you mean to go on, with your ideal lifestyle in mind.

Too many people just look for "anything that will make money" and end up on the never-ending circus wheel of IM always needing the next big thing to give their business some hope.

Just use your brain - look for people with a problem that you have a unique/valuable way of helping with that you are also knowledgeable and passionate about - and go from there.

Reading about IM and then thinking you should make your riches by selling stuff to other desperate people is the reason so many people are struggling right now and thinking IM is all BS.

      This ^

Was thinking pretty much the same when I read your post.

When you are just starting out and I take that to mean:

"Attempting to make money online" - how can YOU make a product that will show them how to make money?

I started with my interests first!

Yes I know it sounds corny - but I believe it is the best place to start.

Start with an interest, something that you know about and then build from there...

Once you have made $xxxx from that niche you can tell people how you did it for more $xxxx and there you go you are in the IM niche.

The IM niche includes all topics related to making money using the internet does it not? Does that not include HTML, CSS, PHP, WP, general marketing tips, and so many other topics. I would not have the experience to write an ebook on how to make money per se in IM, how about an ebook of PHP and CSS essentials to improve your website, just something off the top of my head? Can be many technical areas one can write, while not directly related to making money, the information can be useful to those who are trying to make money, no?

The answer to this all boils down to how good of a marketer you are and how well of a handle you have on marketing fundamentals, such as market research. The better you are at researching and finding profitable niches and knowing how to obtain traffic and convert it, the better you'll be able to answer this. I've seen people do extremely well in niches such as little league coaching, how to cure sweaty palms, etc. as well as really competitive niches such as dealing with refinancing and how to pick up women. But that was because they had their marketing fundamentals down pat.

My take on this is that there is no "best" niche to start out in because it a lot of this boils down to your skill set, focus, discipline, etc. I've seen certain markets change over time too. It also depends if you're going about it as a CPA marketer, via Adsense, product creation, and what distribution channels you plan on utilizing.

Regarding WSOs, that one is simple. You take a look at the WSO forum and look and see which topics are in demand and then take a look at what makes them successful (granted you won't be privy to everything that goes on, but you can still get a good idea on what they're doing such as their sales copy, how quickly they respond to questions, how they respond to questions, how they build their list, etc.).

Generally, a good niche to start out in is one that has built in, repeat buyers. Of course this covers a lot of niches such as improving your golf swing, people who are looking for love, people who are wanting to lose weight, cure ills, trying to stop their divorce, people looking for enlightenment, people who want to deal with their trouble kids, etc. Follow the money, that's the best advice I can give you for now.

IM is a great niche to be in, but it is VERY VERY competitive.
Just search "How to make money online" in google and you'll have millions of sites for it.
    My opinion on NICHE marketing.
Is find a very Low competitive niche, with a High search rate, if you're doing SEO.
It takes awhile, but it's worth it.
Even 60k searches a month, with low competition is a great start.
    Hope this was some help.

      Yes definitely, thanks....

A question for you, following on from your other thread - lets say i find a niche, lets pick "toys" - make a website that is separated into an articles section (how to choose toys, safety considerations, best toys for learning, etc), a forum section where people can join discussions, and an affiliate store section (such as associate-o-matic with amazon) or other real toys stores.

Do you think a 3 pronged website like this would have a chance of being successful? If we dont like toys, we can pick watersports, fishing, gold, etc, etc. Thanks...

if i'm reading this correctly, you are saying that because there are so many gullible people looking to spend money on "make money fast" products, a newbie can easily cash in on it?

thanks. you've just represented everything that is wrong in IM. now go and hang your very soul in shame.

You have not read this correctly at all I am sorry, perhaps best to re-read a few times and think about it a little. What I am saying is there is an incredible amount of ebooks and other products on how to make money online, it seems this is one of the most active niches on the planet. No other niche has such a concentration of people who are willing and able to purchase products.

Sure I can play cricket, and can write a 20 or 50 page ebook on how to play cricket, or how to make french desserts, or how to properly tile a bathroom, but will there be as many people willing and able to buy that ebook, join a subscription package, buy follow on products? I dont know, hence my question, in people's experience, is this a good niche to start in because of the number of potential customers.

Learn IM techniques here and apply what you learn to a non IM niche. I am starting to do this and it is very promising. The non IM world does not effectively use most of the techniques that IM ers have been using for years. IM people have blackbelts in marketing. Why compete with them? Look around in your local market for those who spend big money on advertising. Put together packages for them to help the market themselves online. They have much more money than IM people. You could keep your hand in the IM niche mainly to learn and make a few bucks but look outside this niche for the big money.

I would still consider myself just starting out, although I've been involved in internet marketing, or trying to make money online for two years. I feel that I have got things I can teach people, particularly beginners, and I like writing about it, and learning about it, so I'd rather do that than something else.

I would say there are good and bad places to promote your IM related product. WF as a rule can smell BS offers and can sport re-written content so if you don't have the skills you are best selling at somewhere like DP where the general class of marketers is a lot lower that here. On the other hand if you are the master of your trade and your content is well written, you will find a very hungry market for it here because everyone understands there are always things to learn in IM.

Hell Naw! IM is saturated with only maybe 10 to 25 superstars making the millions. There is a marketing law that the public can only remember 7 major brands in an industry.

I know I only really follow maybe 7 IM megastars. Everybody else is sought of a groupie in denial of such. The only way you should start off in IM is to find a small niche without a lot of major playas and dominate that market and get IM experience.

There are plenty of other niches more lucrative than IM just put your thinking cap on or do SEO research to find some. Even if you are the next best thing in IM you'll have to crack the good boy network of the Marketers with big lists to survive in it solely.

Practice and get experience in another niche. I'd rather be a BIG fish in a small pond before taking on the major sharks in the IM ocean.

The IM niche is alright, and typically has as many people quitting as there are starting. However, it is pretty saturated at this point, there is a limit of how many 'make money' ebooks people can buy,

    Yes the age old trick.

    1) the newbie has never worked on teh internet before

    2) newbie gets into the IM niche without having earnt $1 online before

    3) Newbie fails

    4) Newbie signs up to warrior forum and abuses us for this whole IM thing being a scam

You know exactly what i am talking about, so dont act like you dont.

How about making money first, and getting experience before writing your best seller.

People these days want to write there own best seller without an ounce of experience. WOW, is all I can say to this. LOL :>

If you have specialized knowledge in an IM niche you should be fine.
It will all depend on your positioning of your product.

The Internet Marketing niche can be highly competitive. Is there any other type of experience that you can offer to someone that would save them time or money?
