Hello Everyone,

I am new here but have been searching through the postings and found much of the content here extremely useful.

I am new to the internet marketing scene also, but during this last month I have been working diligently on creating an ebook which will also include interviews regarding studying abroad.

Since I am coming close to bringing my product to market I would like to get some advice on how to distribute my ebook.

I am working on my squeeze page, sales page, but need help with after the order is placed. How do I send out access to the ebook once payment is confirmed.

Ideally I would like to create a members area that takes people back to my main site and have them login to an area where they can view the information online such as the interviews and ebook. But also allow them the option of printing the ebook but not download it.

Any feedback or thoughts would be great. Primary target market is (college students, young professionals and parents or high school and college students)

When you setup BuyNOw button in paypal, you can specify URL the customer is taken to after he/she buys the product.

Make this url long and complex, so that nobody can guess it, e.g.
and also prohibit indexing in robots.txt file. If you use wordpress, there is a plugin called KB robots.txt that allows you to do that easily.

Maybe you can further clarify what you want to do...

If you use a membership program - it will take care of securing your content; i.e. visible only for paying customers.
(As said above, your payment processor should take care where the buyers are redirected after payment)

Not entirely clear how you plan to do the "viewing information online" part of it.
What format are the interviews? pdf? video? other?

What format is your ebook? pdf? .exe? other?
With pdf... no matter what you want, once a user can see it, it can be downloaded.

And to be honest, I'd ask for immediate refund if I cannot download the pdf ebook to read at my pleasure wherever I want without being hooked up on the internet!

So, maybe a re-thinking of the plans is in order

Ashlindz, as the folks above have tried to explain, there are several ways by which you can bring your book to market. It's going to be really hard for me to throw out a whole marketing/sales strategy in one post without knowing exactly what your eBook and material looks like.

If you are seriously interested in this, then ping me and I'll be happy to help and for the benefit of everyone on this forum, if you'd like, we'd then post our plan and approach.

Thanks for the great information. I was trying to just create a pdf file and embed it into a sfw file where it can only be viewed online. Similar to a bust buy advertisement. I am concerned with people sharing my ebook if I let them download it so I wanted to create a membership long in area on my blog or website to grant people access to the information.

Since this is my first project I decided the risk of sharing is not as important as just creating something and bring it to make. At the very least I will learn from it and be able to create an even stronger system next time.

With that being said I have come up with a different solution since this is my first product and I do not want to get caught up in all the techie stuff that could hold me back from other more important issues. I did some more research and decided to use ejunkie at the moment to allow me the opportunity to concentrate on my marketing of the product.

I remember when I just started out as a software developer (I develop and sell scripts). I was very skeptical of pirates and bought the ionCube encoder software.

    I never used it again.

It's a good software and a "safe" concept but it gave me more support issues (ionCube compatibility issues with GoDaddy hosting nearly killed me). In the end I just gave it away open source (thus I cannot tie every copy to a domain) and my sales rocketed. I am worried about pirates? Yes. But I just simply can't let it destroy my business.

You are right about the part where you cannot lose focus on your core business and the product just because of something like that. I've been there

There are easy and affordable services to attract traffic and distribute your content, you can use services from fiverr and similar sites to help you distribute your ebook.

    Here's one example:
jrice80: I will post 15 flyers in different locations around a Midwest College Town with 15000 students for $5 on fiverr.com

    The provider promises this:
will post 15 copies of your flyer in different locations around Winona, MN. There are 3 colleges in Winona with an estimated total of 15000 students.

I haven't tried that service, I just did a quick search since I knew I've seen one of those before.

What you can do is try it out and see if it works. It's very cheap so you won't be losing much if it flops. If it works, you'll get yourself a profitable distribution channel at a very affordable price.

  • I think the promotional (free) you can share part of the product. If you have a video-interviews - you can make them a part on youtube and on your side. This is only for promotional purposes. The product you can share for download for a fee.

One tip I would offer is you'll need to plan on trying a number of things to arrive at a few things that work. No one can predict what your best approach will be. It's sounds like YouTube and some offline promotion might work well, but it might not. Most marketers give up too soon, in my experience.
