Is there a book/ebook that changed your life?????

Hi.

I have heard of some people that have read certain books or ebooks that have completely changed their lives and the outlook they take on things and have contributed largely to their success.

I wanted to know if any of you can recommend any such books or ebooks????

  • The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey made a big difference to me. There is something in that book for everyone. Not the same thing, of course, but it really says everything you need to know about how to succeed.

    I actually read a book, and i thought it was inspiring.

    The book was "James and the Giant Peach".

    Seriously, because i had similiar up bringing to James, and the friends you find, really does shape your future.

    • For a long time (since the 1970s) I've been an evangelist for "Personal Achievement", by Martin Rhodes, although it's been out of print for many years now. It was the first book that changed my direction in life and is perhaps the only one I still find effective.

      I think you have to continuously look for new books to give you a boost in self-help or personal development. Generally, the power of any particular book to motivate seems to wear off after a while. That's why I find "Personal Achievement" so unusual - I can read it at any time and get a burst of enthusiasm.

      The old classics are always good to have on hand, of course - Dale Carnegie and Napoleon Hill, for example - but searching around old bookshops just might turn up the book that does it for you.

    • Our own Craig Mako's FastAttackSEO series is proving to be a turning point.

      Also, Internet Marketer Jim Edwards had the Minisite Creator Kit, which was really my first introduction to IM in the first place. I was looking to source some HTML for some eBay stuff I wanted to do, and right when all hope seemed lost, marketing guru Dave Dee does a JV with Jim Edwards, and that was the turning point.

      Apart from that, pretty much half of the books listed here . . . the other half all now being on my Amazon wishlist.

  • It was "The Magic Of Thinking BIG" that did it for me.
  • Think And Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill is an awesome book and is actually like the "first" get rich book!

    Will have to check out a few others books that you guys mention here.

    The 4 Hour Work Week I read it but it didn't really "gel" with me - not sure why?

    Found it interesting but not inspiring.

    This book got me through College whenever things started looking bleak - and continues to be a source of inspiration.

    Of course, the greatest book I ever read and continue to read is the Bible.

  • Hands down it has to be Jay Conrad Levinson's Guerrrilla Marketing.

    I have used Jay's strategies to stand out in the various marketplaces I work in, bring investors on board my major projects and Jv with the people I most want to work with.

    More than the information, his ideas have allowed me to become a guerrilla in my own right.

    No question in the most important marketing book of the 20th century IMO.

    • "Eat That Frog!" by Brian Tracy - its such a ridiculously simple idea, but it really helped me get a grip on time management. I am so glad I found this little book.

      Just didn't work for what I was looking to do.

      Did you see you can go to his house for semi private training in Orlando. Might be worth it if you got so much out of his book.
  • Think and Grow Rich `- Napolian Hill was a life changing book for me.
    Rich Dad Poor Dad was a great read and very inspiring. Inspired me to start building and flipping websites and developing a stratagy.

    Also love the 4 hour work week.
    A combo of these 3 books has helped me to develop my business model so far and has given me ideas for furture and to expand my business.
  • I second James and the Giant Peach. I never read the book though, so just the movie. That and powerpuff girls, the episode where the powerpuff boys are there. inspiring stuff

  • Sun Tzu's "the Art of War" has so many great modern-day applications, from sports to business and marketing. I highly recommend it.

  • The number one book that has changed my life is a book called "Succeed: How We Can Reach Our Goals" It's ridiculously good. It shows you so many different ways to think about your goals. It also provides multiple techniques you can apply to reach your goals in due time. Another book called "Cashvertising" has also done wonders for my online business. The author, Drew Whitman, is a genius- he really knows his stuff.
  • I believe that most would be lying, no matter how successful they are or have become, if they didn't attribute those successes, at least to some degree, to what they had learned from others. Unfortunately, especially in internet marketing, it appears like some see weakness when they convey that they actually had to 'learn' from others. Admitting that one is a 'student', I believe some feel, can convey a lack of expertise--something that can have a direct impact on sales from potential customers who are looking to purchase from 'experts'. No matter how many thousands of dollars of sales I do, I think it would be disingenuous to not give credit where credit is due. I've been writing THIS post, of books I've read, in order to display the many individuals who I have learned from personally.

  • There are a number of books that really helped me changed my life, there is this book written by Napoleon Hill and The Secret. These books really changed me since I don't have the mindset like what they are trying to send the message to us. After reading those books, I was trying to change my mind set on life and it really changed me.
    How to change our life really depends on how we set our mind, as one would say, "change your mind, and you change your life" although I totally forgot who made this statement.
    But seriously, these books are worth reading and will definitely change your outlook in life. Success may not appear after you read the book, but it will guide you and helped you reached that goal.
    I am really thankful to my friend who introduces me to these life-changing books.

  • When I was 15 or 16 I have read Rich Dad Poor Dad and it realy changed my point of view. It was just a first one that has changed my life, but there is so many great books that are realy influential. Many of them listed above.

    • Two books radically changed my life, transformed it in fact. From a struggling commission only salesman to a Regional Manager for a well known company with over 150 employees.

      Not bragging just want to share how this book changed my life.

      It was Advanced Selling Strategies by Brian Tracy. I read it in 2005 and it was the first 'self improvement' book I had read. I did not even know there were sales books for salespeople. Always assumed we were bottom of the ladder and despised by all.

      More than anything Tracy taught me that I should be proud of my craft. There are many other lessons in there.

      If you work in sales and selling, I really recommend.

      I got to meet Brian in person a few weeks back and I was delighted to see that he is a very honourable yet humble man. Gotta love Brian Tracy.
