Hi Warriors,

I'm pretty new to social networking. Facebook is my only social networking activity so far and I've only been on Facebook for 2 or 3 months.

Last night, I received a call from my best friend to let me know that an old college classmate of ours was in a car accident with his family just hours after it happened. He survived, but his wife and children did not. (He was able to get out of the car and go for help, but his family did not survive.)

I had more of our classmates on my friends list than she did, so I quickly sent out a message to all of them. This morning, as I check my page and their pages, I see the word is pretty much out and prayers and prayer requests are going out for our classmate.

I wasn't close to him in college. We were more like acquaintences, really. But it was a small school, so I definitely knew him. My heart aches for him as I can't even imagine what he must be going through today. These are the only details I know and I'm waiting for more updates throughout the day.

This is the first time I've had or used a list for non-IM purposes -- or used social networking in any serious way. I wasn't convinced about social networking at all and was just trying FB out.

But today, as updates and prayer requests are flying back and forth, I'm convinced. I'm so glad to connect with my old classmates and be able to share the news, updates, and prayers.

I'd be grateful if you'd send out a prayer for my classmate when you have a moment. I can't even imagine what he must be going through and my heart just aches for him. I knew his wife as well as we all went to the same school and she was also my classmate (that's how they met). I didn't know his children.

Thanks,
Michelle
