Would you pull your eyeball from it's socket just to make a few sales? This guy did.

Hi all,

So I'm riding the train from Long Beach to Los Angeles a while back. A man standing at the front of the car announces loudly to all within ear shot.

"Ladies and Gentlemen Please I need a quarter a Dollar or anything you can spare! Please! Anything you give will be greatly appreciated!"

He then reached up to his eye socket and pulled out his eyeball. His glass eyeball (I sure hope it was a glass eyeball )

At that point he kept talking as he walked down the isle holding his eyeball in one hand, he had it pointed at his other outstretched hand as if it were looking at it.

I honestly can't remember what else he was saying, all I remember from that point was him walking down the isle with his opened outstretched hand being watched by his other hand (the one with the eyeball) as people filled the watched hand up with a lot of money.

There has got to be a marketing lesson here.:confused::confused:

Wow! Some of the people on the train probably didn't even see this marketing strategy coming!

I'm racking my brains trying to think what the marketing lesson in that great story is.....

If he made money doing it then I guess there must be something we can learn from it.

Maybe he just had an eye for business....

Well... he got your attention. And isn't that half the battle? That's why headlines are the most important parts of our ads and sales letters.

BTW, when I first saw your headline, I thought you were going to talk about this story:

      Hi George,

There has got to be a marketing lesson here.
Yup. If you can get eyeballs, you can make money.

      ................

From the article Becky linked to -

Then he was transferred and remains at the Jester Unit, a prison psychiatric facility near Richmond southwest of Houston
What a great name for a psychiatric facility.

It is exactly the same reason he pulled out the last one
It appears that it's not the first time he has done this. What a tragic story.
