I have an idea for a product, how do I proceed?

How can I find some funding to create and develop my idea into an actual product that can be mass produced and sold?

What do I need to do?

    Depends what you are looking to produce and how you are trying to sell it. Is the product a download or a physical product?

      Getting funding isnt as easy as it seems in the movies, personally i think the best way would be to go to family and friends first.

      Yeah - we need more specifics to be able to help properly but if it's an info product or e-book:

      You initially need to decide how much control you want:
      You can get a conventional publisher interested (difficult unless you're already a successfully published author) who will do everything for you and take about a 90% cut.
      Get it published yourself and bang it on Amazon - google 'self publishing' - and then save up to pay for it and you'll get 100% of the income (- various costs).
      Or anywhere in between, from writing it yourself, giving it to an editor (who will want to edit about 90% of the content out), convert what's left to pdf and get it on a site and rank it.

      Find out the costs of the various options and you'll pick up knowledge along the way

    It's a physical product, it would do great on those "As Seen On TV" marketing campaigns.

    I don't have it patented yet (don't have the funds to do so at this point), so of course I can't disclose what it is. But once produced and available for sale, I guarantee it could be a billionaire maker though.

    So I'm trying to find out if there is some sort of funding assistance for inventors to create the product and get it patented or whatever I need to do, in order to actually take action with this idea
