Hi Warriors,

I just uploaded WP files with my FTP and have attempted to run the wp-admin/install.php and this error message comes up:

Not Found

The requested URL /cgi-bin/php-cgi/wp-admin/install.php was not found on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

I can't figure out what's going on.... any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

I would go into your cPanel and reinstall Wordpress using Fantastico Deluxe. Hope that helps!

I did install it using the domain mentioned in your post Myles. I don't know what's going on. I've installed hundreds of wordpress blogs and can't figure it out!

So you're entering http://your-domain.com/wp-admin/install.php and then you get the following error ?

The requested URL http://your-domain.com/cgi-bin/php-c...in/install.php was not found on this server.

That would be very strange as you're not even requesting that Url. Not sure what may be happening if that's the case. If it was me, I would check by FTP that the files are where they're supposed to be. Then try reopening the browser and enter the install url again.

Sounds like php isn't running on the server for some reason. This could be a host issue (submit a ticket and ask them about it) or something somewhere telling it to stop.

Also, check the .htaccess file and make sure there is nothing telling php to stop. If there is anything in the .htaccess file, try creating a new one with nothing in it and uploading it (make sure to save a copy of the original) then try the install again.

Hope that works for you. Let us know how it goes.

This is may well be the problem. I had a similar issue a while back. If you're on a shared hosting account, sometimes the PHP safe mode is turned off to deter hackers. This needs to be turned on to facilitate the install.

It's also possible your PHP files may have become corrupted. If all else fails, try deleting everything and starting again.
