How much money do you really need to make?

I was watching a couple of webinars this week and both of the speakers started out by showing everyone how much money they make per month and per year (the usual screen shots from Paypal and Clickbank). One guy was making 6 figures per month. The other was at over 2 million per year.

They continue by saying their money was made via affiliate marketing, list building, google adsense, and a variety of other income streams. The usual techniques we read about here all the time.

But....

Both were also selling training materials and/or software to help the viewers reach the same goals they were.

So my question is....

If these gurus are making so much money with the systems that they are currently using.....why do they need to create and package up the training and sell that as well?

Aren't the milliions they're already making per year enough?

Are they bored with what they are currently doing in the IM arena and they just wanted another project to work on and sell?

Do they TRUELY want to help out others learn how to make it to the big time? If so, why wouldn't they do that for free?

Or are those figures just a bunch of hype to get you to believe they're making that much so you'll buy their training or software? And that's really how they're making their money?

I know there's the old saying that you can never have enough money....but I'd certainly be happy with a few million coming in every year.

What they don't show you..is the amount they spend on advertising to get those figures. So, they spend $750k to make $1mil (just a rough guess). They are obviously showing you gross revenue. If they were netting over $2mil per year, they wouldn't waste their time doing what they are. It's another revenue stream for them.

you're absolutely right, I think the same thing every time some "guru" comes out with the next BIG product to help people start making money with the click of a button.
There are people out there though, who have made a lot of money online but after a while its probably more a case of them wanting to get their name/brand recognized and well-known in the IM industry in the same way you would think of Michael Jordan in basketball or Muhammad Ali in boxing

There is no telling how much of it is hype and how much is truth. I am not sure how much they were selling their course for but I am sure it brings them a nice sum of money each month and thats a large part of their money. You have to be careful with Clickbank numbers as they can easily be faked and screenshoted.

One guy had a system that was $795.00. The other was a monthly PLR membership site that I think was $97 per month....but he started out his presentation showing how much money he made selling PLR products before he started his membership site.

I understand where you are coming from. It can be very complicated to understand all this.

I can recall some time ago, i was having troubles having my site listed high on the SERP and making money on the internet. I posted many request for help of information and mentoring and never got any useful thing that i can work with. The ones who actually want to help mentor me was interested in charging me about $1, 000 for two months. Then i wasn't making up to $10 a month and i said to him, if i have $1, 000 to offer for mentoring, i wouldn't be looking for you and of course, he disappeared.

But the fact is, the guy is very well known and rich in IM and wasn't ready to offer his time for free despite all the money.

Along the line, i met with another guy after lamenting on the forum and he offered to help me all for free. I must tell you, this guy does not really look like a pro to me or when compared to the first one who wanted to charge me. As the mentoring began, i had to hands off everything i was doing because i knew i was been taught something out of the blues.

To cut long story short, i just gave an example of two different kinds of people, all successful.

Some people are just naturally greedy, or simply need to regulate entry into this business arena and that is it.

Holding the seminar is just another way to make quick money.

      Great story! Very inspirational.

I have thought about doing something like this.

I have been very fortunate to have made a few bucks in another industry but now have an interest in IM. But it seems fraught with scammers.

I have thought about perhaps hiring some VERY good designers and SEO people. Pay them to make a bunch of sites.

Then offer the sites for free as a shared rewards program to newbies. Free hosting everything. Get newbies involved for no money but really give them a chance to get started and see how it all works.

      What do you think?

I agree with you guys. I wake up in the morning, check my emails, click on the webinar one, put the 'do not disturb' sign outside my door, get a cup of coffee and then get ready for the six figures speech lasting over 1 hour. I always thought that they were helping me in these webinars until I realized the paypal account showing a minus $47 or $97 or even more. The only ones earning the six figures are the three of them - two presenters and the chap who is 'offloading' his product to us. God help us!

I get about 2 webinar invites a day and I follow the herd day in day out. How does one come of the shiny object/WSO/Webinar disorder?????

haha even if you know its to good to be true sometimes you just have to click on the ads because you still think what if! its crazy right? Ya when people say they are making such and such amount that is their income not their profit. I know someone who makes 250 000$ a month income but the profit is 140 000$. The craziest income I have ever seen however is a guy that makes $2 000 000 per month selling an info product all on paid traffic..and thats no joke!

    1) Screenshots of clickbank can be faked very easily
    2) Even if you see someone bank $10,000 per day, you don't know how much went on advertising ($9,000 probably)
    3) Most IM guru are one hit wonder, for example John Reese made $1million in one day and he has been riding on that particular story for a long time, probably cannot even reproduce that success.
    4) Refunds - most of the $2k courses have high refund rates, but you will not hear about it.
    5) JV Partners use each other's screenshots to make it look like they have multiple accounts
    6) etc

What I've found in working with very successful people is that the more they make, the more they want to make. And it's not necessarily about being a money grubber or miser. It's just when you experience success and making money, you love the thrill of making more even though you may never need it. It's all about having control over your own destiny.

    lol at this thread...

@ the OP title: As much as you want is enough.

    Now...

As infopreneurs, the aim of the game is to build as many income streams as you can.

I used to think the same thing as the OP, until I read the One Minute Millionaire by Bob Allen and Victor Hansen.

As part of their bonuses, I downloaded a report by Allen which explained the theory.

    Basically...

Your income streams are like a series of circles / rings - like a cut tree trunk.

The smallest, most middle circle is your topic / first product.

Then the next one is a higher income producing venture and so on.

In this case you may start with an ebook @ $27.

Then you add email support @ $97.00.

Then you add e-coaching at $297.00

Then you add 1 on 1 coaching.

    And so on.

Eventually you systemize your business and sell that as a product. So in effect, you enter a new phase of your career where you teach others what has worked for you.

It has nothing to do with your original ebook. It's now all about teaching how you built a successful business starting with that ebook.

I see nothing wrong with this approach and have done so myself.

It isn't as simple as why do it if they have made so much money.

Speaking for myself, I made my $$ in real estate and then wrote a book. I then discovered IM and it presented a new challenge, so I gave REI away.

Bottom line: Even the gurus have bills to pay, but for many, it's not just about the money.

Most of gurus talk about six figure income in coaching program. After joining to the program, they will introduce to make own product and build a list. This is the famous basic in IM. Most of newbies fail to create a product to promote.

I think they are not making as much as they claim. Moreover, if you would find out a perfect way on how to make a lot of money online, you would keep that a secret and would't tell anyone about it. IMO most of these programs are scams.

I would agree most of these are scams. The income screenshots do not show paid advertising costs, JV and affiliate payouts, and refund rates. Obviously if their methods were successful they would still be doing them instead of packaging them up into a product.

If I found one product that I could make a profit on from pay per click advertising, with an endless amount of customers, I could easily keep putting the profit back into buying more ads. It was said already, there's no way to tell how much he spent to make that, so his profit could be zero, you don't know, he could have just fabricated the figures completely.

but if you do not believe the hype, then just don't buy the product, attend the webinars or training. Simples. I think the best way to learn in this game is just get out there on your own and do it, be that on a shoestring budget or with some investment behind you. Once your start making your first bit of profit re-inject that back into what you're doing.

I know of a friend doing about $30k a month net and is all silent. A different close friend does about half of that (about 15k/month) and uses over $10k on marketing and he's all over the internet with info products and webinars...that's like 5k a month.

All hype I guess. Just do it yourself.

There are those people who really just wanted to make some extra money on doing things that sounds too good to be true. There are those who are earning that much in the IM business and still are helping the new ones to learn and can compete in the business. And there are those who are yet to earn that much and would present themselves to others as a guru, so they could extract some cash on mentoring and teaching them the what to do and how to in the IM business.
As what fellow warrior billythekid stated here, if you think that it is all hype, then do not attend and listen to their speeches or try to buy their products. I was really wondering why these gurus are trying to sell their products in such an expensive amount. I have to agree also in the concept of, if they are earning that much amount using that program, why are they selling it instead of using it to further increase their sales or money?

  • Man... the amount of wrong assumptions in this thread is simply mind-blowing... I see so many people here in the IM industry who don't actually understand how IM truly works...

The reason as of why someone who makes 6 or 7 figures a year sells a training program is because it's MUCH easier to systematize a formula, package it up and sell it as a product, than it is to actually exploit the formula itself.

That doesn't mean that the formula doesn't work, but it's a much easier money to "sell" the formula than to "do" the formula.

Why do you think consulting companies exists? if they are so great at optimizing and managing businesses... why do they need to consult others how to run their respective firms instead of running their own? It's the same principle: it's easier to "advise" than to "do", even if the advice does indeed work.

You guys should put down the guru-hate mentality, and start understanding how this business works...

So the basic question we have now is
Why can't Gurus do the success methods themselves rather than teaching someone?
      1. When you do it yourself, you have to spend a lot of time on doing some boring tasks. Ofcourse, if you hire people to do, what fun in it?
      2. Just by teaching others, you have plenty of time to research further as I'm techniques are of short lives.

When you're making so much money, I believe ideas just start to come to you rapidly that most people don't think of. And I think it's good to have multiple income streams so you can possibly affect the lives of other people who are less fortunate then you. Also, I here when people get things for free, they usually tend to de-value it. (if that's a word) When you have to work for something and pay the price for it, you value it a lot more and at time I think their training is priceless to be honest.

    GOOD point.

Work is very enjoyable for some. Just like a runner who enters race after race they want to test themselves. Or after winning races as a runner they want to do triathlons to test themselves.

I have been very fortunate to be making very good money outside of IM but I want to test myself to see what I can do in a new area, mainly IM, to see if I can do well in this arena.

It no longer is about the money. It is about the challenge and testing yourself.

      It[s called being "entrepreneurial".

It's a snow ball effect. The more money you make the more opportunity to make money you have around you. You have the mindset, structure, outsources to get stuff dome fast. So why not doing it?

If I see an opportunity to make money that ethical and organic to what I already do then I'll do it.

Why Trump need to be in the perfume, beauty pageant, entertainment,
eduction business? he certainly don't need the money but he's an entrepreneur so he'll tap into all the money-making venture that are
      within his reach.
