This thread is exactly what it says on the tin! I have personally been using getresponse as it came highly recommended, but I never did much research on autoresponders! So my questions are:-
1. Which is your proffered?
2. Which autoresponder gives the best bang for your buck?
3. Has anyone used and had good results using free ones?

Like I said, I wouldn't change mine as I perfectly happy, but thought this thread may make interesting reading for anyone starting out who wants to research which would be best for them!

Look forward to hearing your reviews!

Very best wishes to you all

I don't proffer any, because I'm not an affiliate. I prefer Aweber myself.

We had a big survey/poll thread here recently, to discuss that question, and Aweber was the winner by miles. I think it did better than all the rest put together.

Many people replying in such threads have experience of only one, anyway, which makes their answers perhaps not all that helpful to others. But it's always interesting to hear from the people with experience of various different autoresponders,

They have, perhaps, but (a) briefly, while their accounts have lasted, and (b) again, typically they have nothing with which to compare them. My personal view is that using a free autoresponder is one of the biggest mistakes you can make in internet marketing, and that for all the reasons explained here, nobody actually needs a free autoresponder: people only imagine they do.

The only one I have ever really used is Aweber. Affordable price, easy to work with and most importantly, great inbox rate! I read somewhere that aWeber actually employs a team of people who's only task is to ensure their servers are not blacklisted by mail providers and therefor have a good inbox rate...dont know true this is though..

When I first got into list building however, I used ListWire - a free version. And it worked pretty good, never really had problems. Got into aweber though because I could afford it and it came highly recommended...

All 'main stream' autoresponders do this... Don't get fooled into thinking this is something only Aweber does...

These are the ones I currently use listed by my preference...

      1. Imnica Mail
      2. iContact
      3. Aweber
      4. Direct Responders
      5. Optinme

Lots of people use Aweber with no problem and recommend them and say they are the best... BUT they have nothing to base there experience on so they are kinda biased...

I am a list builder and an email marketer so I am constantly testing new autoresponders and researching them...

With that said - unlike many folks think - my testing across these 5 autoresponders (and others I have culled along the way) shows that the deliverability is more or less on par with all of them...

They ALL hit the spam (surprise :p)

But overall my testing shows consistency across the board...

      So...

With that said - How do you choose the BEST autoresponder?

You test them and you find which one is best for YOU and YOUR business!

Each autoresponder company has its pluses and it's negatives...

The key is to find the one that has the least negatives (in your eyes)...

      I hope this helps

Interesting, and thanks. I did not know that this was something done by all "main stream" autoresponders. Great to get some feedback from an email marketer...

i use aweber and 1shoppingcart. i am pleased with both. aweber is a much more robust solution, and most think its the leader in the field.

but i also use 1shoppingcart, i have also been pretty pleased with the service there. a few years ago their were some deliverability issues, but they have that fixed now. I see very similar deliverability rates with both currently.

from a business perspective, your AR is not the place to cut corners and save money. it would cost you way more money in the long run due to account shutdowns and poor deliverability to go with a shady or free provider.

I use Imnica as well, the optin boxes are pretty plain but with a bit of html you can
    jazz em up a bit.

Imnica by far gives the most bang for the buck, very reasonable. They do the job for me anyway, but it is personal preference and you may find yourself trying a few before you decide. I also use getresponse but I am using Imnica exclusively right now.
worth checking out. I would not use free ones especially when Imnica is like $7 a month up to 2,500 subs. You can try it for a buck for 30 days. Imnica

Aweber seems to be the top choice for most, especially when it
comes to service. Traffic Wave is also a good choice. List Wire
is free but I am not sure if it is as good as the full paid services.

Personally I prefer iContact and aweber. From my experience iContact has world class customer support

    1. iContact
    2. Aweber
    3. Mail Chimp allows around 12k emails a month I believe if free is what you are after.

      Interesting thing to point out...

Imnica also supports other languages and even allows custom field creation (rather than default ones) so you can create the "name" fields in another language, etc...

    I use two auto-responders

    1. Is eResponder Pro: Someone spoke about getting the most bang for the buck, well I don't think you can get more than what this company offers. This auto-responder is marketed under two names (same Company - (GVO)

GVO Webosting: Auto-responder with up to 5,000 emails per month, Unlimited web hosting and web reselling, Video hosting (comparable to Amazon S3), Online Video Production tool, 50 seat Conference Room and more for about $44.95 per month

Host Then Profit: same products as a above but scaled down to only 500 emails per month, hosting for only 4 domains no web reselling and conference room is a 5 seat room. Cost $9.95 per month

    2. is Autoresponse Plus: This is a server side program that allows you to set an unlimited number of auto responders, with unlimited number of emails. It is a bit difficult to use but I love it. Cost is a one time fee of $197 which included installation ( they have special for $177 that is suppose to end on Friday. One more thing there instructions Manuel stinks but I still love this program

Each of these have there pluses and minuses. But as far as bang for the buck the two GVO products cannot be beat.

I am a distributor for both products so if anyone is interested in learning more about them I would appreciate you going through my links. I have put the links on my blog under GVO which you can be accessed through my sig file.

    Or just email me.

One of the biggest mistakes that most people make (in my opinion) is
to use a free autoresponder in the beginning. Most of those free email
service providers (Such as MailChimp) do not allow anything related to
internet marketing as it is considered "high risk".

If I were you, I would invest a few bucks into an email provider that can
guarantee the safety of your list such as Aweber, iContact, etc. Just like
when you sign up to a service, be sure to read their TOS so you don't run
    into trouble.

Be sure to explore your options before making a decision, but as a personal
recommendation, I would highly recommend Aweber as I have used it for the
past year. Delivery rates are awesome and if there is an issue, I contact their
support and they respond in a timely manner.

Hope I made things a tad bit easier.

    Regards,

    Jake Gray

I have used GetResponse for about 5 years now and I have no complaints. I have used aweber and constant contact but I still like GetResponse. It was the one i started with so things are a little easier for me with them. Aweber is the most popular for wordpress plugins and joomla addons. So keep that in mind to. Good Luck.
