Multiple Streams Of Traffic - This Is A Must

Why should you generate more than one traffic source. After all the one you do now probably sucks up so much of your time you may not be able to spend the time creating another traffic stream.

To me multiple traffic streams isn't just a should, it's a must. We can should ourselves all over the place but we won't get anything done. I should go on a diet, I should go to the gym, I should do the housework. I must breath, I must drink, I must not jump in front of a bus.

If you want to thrive in the internet marketing game, multiple traffic sources is a must. Why? Because traffic sources always dry up, eventually. Google changes it's algorithm and you website drops off the face of the search engine. Your paid advertisement company changes it's terms and conditions and stops your ads. If this happens what are you left with?

Traffic from other traffic sources or no traffic?

Don't put all of your eggs in one basket.

How many traffic sources do you have? and how much time do you spend on them?

    I agree
Its no different than having multiple streams of income.
This way if one goes away you arent sol.
My site is getting traffic from Google Bing Yahoo Facebook Reddit as well as a handful of blogs.
No single source of traffic is over 50% although Facebook has started to get close.

I am mainly using fan pages and rss feeds
This was not a quick process. Took me 6 months. And when I started you could solicit more friends.

Basically I created a facebook profile.
I became a fan or joined a handful of larger groups and fan pages.
I began posting relevant content. In my case cake pictures and recipes.
I also solicited 50 or so new friends per day.
Now you will only be able to do 10 or so or you will get a warning from fb
This method got me around 1000 or so friends in the first 2 months.
From that point on I would get around 5-10 new friend requests per day.
Once i hit the 3000 friend mark, I began getting 25-40 requests per day.
At this point I was posting pictures and recipes on my pages as well as all the pages I was a fan of and all groups i joined.
All my pics are linked to my site and that is how I get the traffic.
Once I maxxed out my profile I made another and told my current friends to please friend it.
        Rinse and repeat.
I average over 1000 visits a day from facebook at this point.
I have done the math and it looks like every 10,000 fans i get are worth around 1000 visits to my site per day.

This sounds like a great strategy to get visitors and 1000 a day is awesome! I dont really understand what you are saying though. You have a facebook fan page or do you make facebook profiles so you can add people yourself instead of having to get "likes"?

and do you add people by hand or have a program?

If you can PM me a link to your facebook page that would be awesome

Couldn't agree with you more.. Diversification is the key to staying successful. That way your protected when one stream runs dry. I had to learn that the hard way before branching out.

Well, I think it's best to master 1-2 traffic sources first before you venture into too many. If you can dabbling in too many traffic streams then you may not figure out everything you need to in order for you to get visitors and have your website, article or video rank. I just recently discovered you have to do quite a bit in order to have your videos rank in youtube. It's not just uploading videos, you have to do a good description, ping the URL, get comments, likes and have people favorite your video. All of those components help with your video ranking which means more traffic and prospects to your site.

      Multiple streams yes.

But what if you found that most your sales were coming in from blog commenting, and also press releases.

Well then you concentrae more on those, and outsource.

Its a great way to get maximum ROI.

Couldn't agree more. You need to master them one at a time at first. Once you've learned as much as you can about a traffic source you should then try to automate ans/or outsource as much as you can so you can move onto another and diversify your traffic sources.

I agree take your best traffic sources and use them as much as you can but you must find a way to automate or shorten the amount of time spent on them so you can work on the ones that aren't bringing in as much traffic.
