What's the Best Wordpress Plugin that Auto-Subscribes the People Who Comment on Your Blog to Your List?

I remember someone mentioning one that was paid so I never bought it. Are there any good free ones that do the job? If not, what's the best one to buy?

Robert Plank has one called Action Comments.

Not sure if I bought it as a WSO, or from one of his sites, but it came as a package with some other cool optin stuff. Like optin forms that loaded on the page, so the reader can enter the info, push submit, and stay on the same page! Awesome for sales pages, where you dont want them leaving.

Anyways, its called Action Comments, by Robert Plank.

  • You don't really mean auto-subscribe, right?

Because that wouldn't be opting in.

Plus many email addresses attached to even valid comments are fake.

If anything, like what msafi suggested in what he posted, there'll be a checkbox
to click so s/he can be added into one's mailing list. Maybe underline a word in
that portion to open a new window and explain what that means.

That way, a viewer can give their actual email address and check that box itself
if s/he really wants to subscribe. Otherwise, they can skip that and still make a
      comment.

Makes me kick myself for not having thought of this sooner. Anyway, thanks to
      both OP and msafi.

I great free option is Danny van Kooten's Newsletter Sign-Up. But that's not the only way to do it, there are other great subscription plugins out there.

Anti-spam law requires that you do a double opt-in, which means user has to willingly enter their email and then confirm or else it's illegal to have them subscribed to your newsletter.

That sonds very dodgy m8. If you mean auto subscribe without being aware of opting into a mailing list then i would qualify that as spam and warn you against that option.

Double Opt-in IS NOT required under CAN-SPAM.

      Agree.

If you did that to me, I would make sure that your autoresponder company were made aware of this.

      Good luck keeping your account.

Rather than autosubscribe as the OP said, perhaps do it along these lines:

        1. User types their comment but doesn't hit Submit or similar just yet.

        2. User sees the checkbox and line saying like "Subscribe to blog newsletter". It
has an underlined word or so explaining what'll happen if they choose that.

        3. That underlined word explains what that Subscribe thingie means, its process,
and expected result/s. (e.g. user will get email to confirm opt-in)

        4. User checks that box beside Subscribe to blog newsletter, then clicks Submit
to at least make their comment on the blog.

        5. User receives an email with a link asking to confirm their opt-in.

        6. User clicks that link to confirm and is added to blog owner's mailing list. The
user will periodically receive emails from that blog owner, and can unsubscribe
        or opt-out anytime.

Hope this makes sense. I'm going to give this a try.

This is a free plugin that adds a check box below the comment submit button that asks if you want to join the list. You have the option of having it checked by default and can add whatever text you want next to the box. I suppose you could have it checked by default and write something like "Check here if you're cool" or just leave the text blank, but do you really want to do that?
