Trying something different.

Hi

I am still fairly new to IM and like most started down the Adsense route only to find that its not as great as I would have hoped.

I have 5 sites and a couple of them are product based. So I thought I would look at taking off adsense and trying a amazon store. I have a site that is #4 on google dot com search and is getting about 7+ visitors per day (not masses I know )

I have seen a few amazon plug in's for WP and quite like the look of WP Zon Builder. With WP Zon builder are products displayed from your local amazon store. Example - I am from the UK and if I place the UK products on, when someone from the US visits would they see the UK version or the US?

My other question is really for someone that uses amazon aff. I have setup on UK amazon aff but seem to get collecting a few ID's now I have one UK ID and 2 US (all under the same email). Do I only need one ID or should I setup one for each country and each different site I want to put amazon products on?

Many thanks in advance for your help and advice.

  • Hi,

If I'm understanding your question correctly, I think you may find that you need to create a seperate site for your US & UK ID's.

It might be worth looking into because I think I've seen the EU puttin some limitation on promoting electronic goods as an affiliate in EU countries. Unfortunately I only saw it in passing.

The other thing I'm not sure if you're aware is that last time I looked into it, the commission structure on the UK was capped quite low regardless of sales and price of products sold. That ceiling wasn't on the US site, so whilst you might end up pocketing a nice commission on a $1100+ plus playground set to a US customer, you would end up with a lot less had you sold the same product in the UK.

Plus Amzaon US sells a far far greater range than it does in the UK.

Overall I think Amazon US gives you a possibly greater potential return for the time invested.
