Turnkey Website Advice Needed

Can any Warriors give me some advice about turnkey niche websites and whether they're worth buying with the idea of monetising / flipping.
I've seen a few websites selling niche blogs etc quite cheap. They look very professional using nice themes but the content is PLR articles, and linked videos etc. These sellers claim you can make cash from adsenes, amazon, affiliates etc, but as they sell 30 plus same sites, i guess google won't rank them too highly. Some offer the Domain name with the price.
I was thinking, maybe swapping out the PLR articles over time and backlinking the unique new content etc.
I'd really appreciate some feedback on whether turnkey sites can indeed be monetied or flipped for a nice profit.
Thanks in advance

Not everybody purchases ready made websites with the intention of getting high search rankings, there are plenty of other ways to get traffic that don't rely so heavily on unique content.

If you want to target search rankings you just need to select good keywords and then either rewrite the content or add more new content, better still do both.

The thing with these PLR websites, as most sellers will tell you, is that they are just meant to be a starting point that you add your own unique content to.

So you get a blog that has a professional design and is loaded up with interesting content for visitors to read right off the bat. You add your own articles based on your own keywords and get those ranked.

That's the key. Plus, if they have Amazon products on them as most do, you will get long tail product search traffic.

They save you the trouble of building a blog, getting the graphics, finding pretty images, sourcing products, content, videos etc...

Google ranks pages not websites so you can put your own unique articles, or rewrite the PLR articles to get the rankings.

Thanks Cashcow and fellow warriors. I just read that you can have your adsenes account closed if you use PLR content. I know google hates duplicate content and so i guess PR will be a problem. Any feedback on this?
Cashcow, That is my exacty idea, to have a site ready-to-go and develop it with new unique content and try and get a good page rank. I realise that without this, monetising is dead. Cashcow, you say google ranks pages not sites, i never knew that. I have an idea to set up maybe 2 -5 niche blogs and try and narrow the niche using keywords, backlinking and maybe more. I enjoy writing short articles and so i think i might go buy a few next week. Thanks all for feedback.

I never heard that Google closes your adsense account if you use PLR. Where did you hear that? I have over 100 sites with PLR and adsense as do many other people so I suspect that is one of those internet myths.

I don't know that they hate duplicate content so much but the thing is they want to show the most relevant search results and not the same page over and over. Therefore, only 1 page that has the same content as other pages would rank. Which page? Contrary to what some people believe, it is actually the most relevant page (most authoritative usually) which is not necessarily the one where the content was first published.

Yes, google ranks pages. Of course one "attribute" of a page is the website it is on but for the most part you can look at the page on it's own and figure out how to get it ranked. If you look at your site the traffic doesn't just come to the homepage. Or do any search in google, many inner pages come up not just homepages.

That sounds like a good plan, you are smart to leverage already done work and add your own to it.

Thanks cashcow. Here's the link: [adsensebaknow.hubpages.com/hub/PLR-Articles-will-get-you-Banned-by-Adsense]
I think it's a great idea to start with ready made content and categories set up, and then fine tune the site, maybe narrowing the niche and as i said before, adding my own unique content while the site - hopefully, begins to get google friendly. I would probably take months to get a site up and running with same amount of content as you have with a turnkey site ready-to-go. Like an artist staring at a blank canvas.
I believe it's easier to start with too much and simply shave off and swap out as i improve the site.
Let me know what you think about that link. I am a newbie with all this marketing/seo stuff. Thanks for your helpful feedback

I would try to avoid these unless your a total novice. Its better to build one yourself and learn the process . Rather than getting one pre-made. It always seems easy to buy one that is made but the trouble comes when it does not fulfil what you wanted it to do for you .

Thanks for the link. I dont know what kind of PLR that guy is talking about but he's got it all wrong - lol. PLR usually has the rights for you to change it with no links back to the originators stuff. Not sure what he is talking about.

Anyway, think about this .... how would Google know that you are using PLR?

Do they buy every PLR pack and put it in a database for comparison? It can't be that they just look to see if there is a duplicate of it out there because they wouldn't be able to tell the difference between syndicated articles, stolen articles and PLR articles.

But anyway, sounds like you have a good plan worked out - good luck!

They are a great bargain at the price. You can't even buy the theme for the money that is being charged. You do need to either rewrite the plr articles or just start posting your own unique content to them, just like you would do with any blog, but if you are looking to get into a niche with a great looking site quickly, it's a good option. You also need to do the same thing to promote them that you would any other blog, backlinking, social bookmarking, etc.

Be careful what sort of "turnkey" sites you buy londoncoffee. Think of them more as "starter sites" that help you to get up and running quickly so you can concentrate on choosing good keywords, re-write or add content to target those keywords and then promote the sites to get traffic.

I saw some starter sites recently that had Adsense ads showing on the privacy and contact pages which is something that can get your account banned so have a good look at what you're getting.
