Call-to-action on every page?

I saw a recent comment (I think by Alexa Smith) regarding a person's site not having a call-to-action on their pages (very loosely translated here.) Anyhow, he made me start questioning my own site. Should each page have a call-to-action of some sort? Am I missing opportunities here or would including it on every page be too pitchy? I do have adsense on the site but should I also be selling an ebook, clickbank product, etc on every page?

Definitely, even if it is as simple as an opt-in on the sidebar. I do this on my successful sites.

its good to have a call to action on every page, even if its not a direct sales message, it could be a sequence of articles that leads to the sale.

  • You definitely need some sort of call-to-action on every page of a commercial website. If you analyze the stats of your website you will find there are numerous entry pages, your traffic doesn't always come to your homepage first. So, if you don't have a call-to-action on every page you are surely leaving money on the table.

I believe every article on a website should be written with a purpose; after your prospect reads an article on your site you need to guide them to the next step. It can be anything: an invitation to subscribe to your newsletter, link to a review of a product relating to your niche etc.

      100% correct.

Every website, page, blog post, etc should be published with a specific purpose in mind. Therefore, each purpose should be aided with a call to action fulfilling such purpose: an affiliate link, an optin box, a downloadable PDF, a buy-now button, etc. Whatever your page is about, it should have a clear purpose aided by a clear call to action.

I agree 100% with this. You gotta write content with a view to thinking what do you want the readers end goal to be? It could be the sale, the opt-in or even added trust and credibility (in which case I hope they opt-in or buy).
