Roboform opinions? Did it cause my computer to reset itself to factory settings?

I downloaded the free version of Roboform a couple of weeks ago and I was really enjoying it. Seems like it's a big time saver.

But then the day before yesterday when I turned my notebook computer on, it had reset itself to factory settings. Very strange. When I turned it off the night before, everything was fine. I didn't do anything different, didn't get any weird errors messages. Nothing like that.

So now I'm wondering if Roboform had anything to do with it, or if I'm unfairly thinking Roboform might have had something to do with it because it just happened to be the only thing that I've changed recently, and then the problem popped up.

Luckily, I back everything up to an external hard drive often so I really haven't lost much. It's just a pain to have to go back and try to get the computer just the way I liked it. And I hate this feeling of not trusting the computer.

Each time I turn the computer back on, it goes through all of that stuff all over again, as if it just came to me from the factory. I had a techie guy talk me through a few things on the phone, but nothing worked to try and get my files and folders back. The techie guy said he's never heard of anything like this.

This may be a long shot. Did you setup everything on your computer under a particular username and then login the next day under a different one? Or, maybe, there are more than one user accounts setup on your computer, but not showing when you start it?

Just me on the computer. None of my files or folders are anywhere on it.

If I didn't know better, I'd think that someone got into the computer while I was sleeping and changed stuff. But there's no way anyone did that because the computer was on a little table next to my bed all night.

The techie guy said he hadn't heard of any viruses doing this type of thing and was puzzled by it all.

I was using IE 7, and I guess I'll go ahead and switch over to Firefox. I've been dreading this because I really don't like Firefox. Maybe it will just take some getting used to because it's so different.

Forgot to mention -- I had one of those browser hijacking viruses a few months ago, but took it to a tech who cleaned it up. So I'm not sure if the old virus has something to do with this or not. Probably not, since I'm not getting hijacked through the browser this time.
