    • I agree. Health related sites are one of the most profitable niches.

    • Weight loss and dating have a lot of competitions. And these competitions are people like PPC experts or SEO experts. Unless if you're also an expert, don't expect to win the competition.

My suggestion, pick a niche that you like that doesn't have a lot of competitions, avoid dating, weight loss and internet marketing, for now, when you're more expert, you can move to those niches.

My advice would be to promote a niche that you know a lot about. I wouldn't recommend promoting something you don't know much about.
      1. Know about the niche in extensive detail.
      2. Be willing to buy the product or service yourself.

If you wouldn't buy it, no one else will.

I promote bodybuilding products, but only because I'm a bodybuilder and know a lot about it. I don't promote relationships or new age stuff because 1. I'm not interested in it. 2. I don't know enough about it. 3. I wouldn't buy anything related to those niches.
      You see?
      hope this helps.
  • The three mega niches are health, wealth and relationships. Within each of these, you can sub-niche. Example of a sub-niche for health would be weight loss, for wealth - making money online and for relationships - dating. Eben Pagan says to think of niches as needs, problems that people have and are desperately looking for solutions.

    • I totally agree with Marcus. Health, Wealth and Relationships are always a clear winner.

      Regards,

      Aaron.
  • yes, if you see competitions and lots of it, it means that is where you need to start.

We are in several niches but our best ones are

    Relationships

    economy

    Finances

    Health / wellness.

That are very good and you should start there. As the US economy gets worse people will be starting to thinks more about their money and where they should invest. So that is another good one we are involved with.
  • They are almost all profitable if you promote them right. Just pick anything that interests you and find some key words in that niche that you can rank for, without working your tail off for six months or a year. And get to work.

You can get a good idea if a niche is profitable by doing a Google search for those key words. If ther are more than one or two ads on the results page, then they are more than likely profitable. If the competition number is really high, then you are going to have a job to rank for it.

Also, if you use Google Keyword Tool to research key words, the CPC can give an indication of how much people are paying to advertising. Many people say to stay with words that list for at least $1 or $2 and more are the best to go with. It is a personal decision though.

    • So, is he to get to work, or not work his tail off?

In my opinion, you need to pick your "niche" very carefully, and avoid overwhelming competition. Once you find a potential product/service to promote, you will need to find keywords that you can compete with. If you cannot compete for any relevant keywords I would advise that you move on to something else. You will then need to "work your tail off" if you expect to get results. With no pain, expect no gain. IM is not a walk in the park by any means, but those that work at it day in and day out usually reap the rewards.

    • Great Advice from all members for everyone, Dee Odus also wrote a good formula "If the problem keeps someone up at night then you have a niche.."
Just keep at the niches you do pick and you'll be fine, some just take longer than others to make an impact in all the competition and see what is really working and what needs to be changed, Keep It Up! Thanks

  • I've done a lot of niche sites in the big categories like health and wealth but have also had success in other areas with things of personal interest. I actually enjoy the latter more because I don't mind writing about my hobbies and interests on a regular basis. The less it feels like a job especially in the beginning when you're not earning anything the easier things will be.
  • I think the most profitable niche to start with is the niche you are most knowledgeable about.
How can you expect to create something of value if you dont know anything about it.
However if you have the money you can hire an expert.
  • I started In Relationships - Im still earning commissions promoting affiliate products!
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • Check out the War Room there are a few profitable niche lists there that are solid. It's important to not just think about the niche but how you can go about driving and getting traffic (keywords/search engine traffic, media buys/ppc).

I don't really buy into the idea of crowded niches - if you really are passionate about the particular niche (ex - I love writing about weight loss, fitness, body building etc.) then you can get into it regardless of competition.

The lottery niche is great i would stick with and keep trying.
  • Look where people are buying ads on Google, Bing, Yahoo, Facebook, etc. What topics are hot over at Ezine Articles, Idea Marketers, etc.?

Follow the money and you'll find profitable niches. This is probably one of those topics that people definitely over complicate.

    RoD

This is solid advice. I've never bought into the idea of niches being too crowded or saturated. One of my mentors taught me years ago that in order to compete in any market you simply had to do it better than one of the competitors who is already making money.

The reality is if you have the marketing fundamentals down pat, know how to increase conversions, and know how to utilize different distribution channels, than you can compete in virtually any market.

  • one tip is to look at the WSO section...there are few who offer PLR to the info products and most of them will list out the niche..so you will have a rough idea..you will be able to zoom down into sub niche if you want...hope this helps
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • depends on the traffic sources and level of traffic, you can make profits from almost any niche
  • As far as my knowledge is concern, I would strongly suggest that if you are still beginning, do not go directly to saturated niches, well, it is true that when there is great competition, there is always REAL money. But would it be great to target people who are really searching for that particular offer you are into?, and actually earn REAL PROFITS from them before going to saturated niches which is obvious that to fight competition, you have to embrace automation. Yes, I am talking about investments, it cost money to earn money right? so that's it.

    I hope this helps.
  • To earn money through advertising revenue on a niche blog, you need not stick to a particular niche all you have to do is build trust. Place advertisements on your blog from the very beginning. Take the time to build traffic and community. Once the community is lively and on the go and traffic that has a pattern you can have faith and confidence on your blog will be earning in no time!
  • Yeah, people don't usually like to do links for lottery/gambling, adult stuff and so on. A lot of article directories won't even accept content from such sites. When it comes to profitable niches, there's a saying that goes, "Where there's a magazine, there's a niche." There are tons of them out there. It's important not to only choose a niche that's profitable but one that you like as well. Here are some examples:

    dating/relationships

    weight loss/fitness

    learn guitar

    learn Spanish

    gardening

    cooking

    sports

    fashion

    pet industry

    make money....

One big hint that a niche is profitable is that there are a lot of different products to promote. Once you find a niche that's profitable and one you like, it's important that you get the proper training so that you can make the most of it. I recommend Unstoppable Affiliate by Andrew Hansen and Josh Stanton. You learn everything you need to know to make money with niche sites. It also comes with an optional 8-week coaching program that you can choose to take part in if you like--no lies, gimmicks, or crappy fake software.

    Good luck,
    Joey
  • all about wedding, dating..
  • Health and relationship are always on the top list. As you can observed the changes on how people are now concern of their health since the age of those who have hypertension are now getting younger and younger. In addition, there are these issues of unwanted fats and obesity and how these people could can still regain their healthy lifestyle without actually sacrificing something in their daily activity.
And the other is about relationships, and as you can also observe, people nowadays are more conscious of their relationships and how to make it stronger and have a better relationship with their partner in life. They would like to fix their marriage or relationship before they would end up separate lives or filing their divorce to their partner. And especially, for the sake to save the family, they would do something to really save it from separating from one another.
  • There is an article on a certain Warrior's blog about this very topic that you might find interesting. I would also note that the author is one good looking guy.

  • Depends on what you want to do within the niche...

If you just want to get sites ranked and earn affiliate sales or adsense clicks, then any niche will do! Get a solid keyword research tool like Niche Finder, plug in some keyword ideas, find out which keywords you think you can rank well for within a reasonable amount of time. You've got your niche.

If you want to go deeper though and create products, definitely stick with the big niches and find a sub-niche within. If there are a lot of products already selling in the niche and people are already making money, jump in and get your piece.

Competition can be your friend as well. You could create complementary products that tie in with other products, and then you've got affiliate and JV opportunities there too.

Bottom line, find out what you want to get into a niche for, then find out what problems are nagging that niche and solve that problem.

  • most profitable are probably dating and weightloss, however they are also the most competetive
  • I don't believe that there are profitable and non profitable niches. you can earn money in every niche the challenge is to have knowledge of the niche you work at and know how to sell its products.

    • You're right dude. It's the hardwork and budget (in my practical opinion) that can help anyone make money online. Have an extensive research and learn the business. Value your time ;')
  • For myself what I do is to go after specialty niches that have some competition but aren't saturated. After that I just try to use blogs to get as much as possible of the target audience to the blog and then lead out with a affiliate link. Hope I'm helpful.
  • The most profitable 3 niches are and will always be health, wealth and relationships.

    • Lots of good advice and examples here.
Just for what's it worth, Eben Pagan - a highly respected marketer, recently published a series of videos on niche selection as a prelude to one of his master coaching classes.

He emphatically makes this point: The biggest mistake you can make is to PICK a niche or just SELECT a niche. The correct way, he says, is to FIND a niche with hungry buyers. This involves doing research in order to find out what people want or need and then go through the hoops of market, competition and keyword research. He even gave away his list of recommended sub-niches which include a few of the ones listed above.
  • The easiest formula to pick a niche is this...

If the problem keeps someone up at night then you have a niche..

    Relationship problem - check
    Money problem - check
    Weight loss - check
    Learn HTML - nope
    Acne problem - check
    Train your dog - nope
    Debt solution - check
    Fix computer - nope

you get the point...this formula works
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • the niche will depend in which country you are promoting the offer for e.g. weight loss products may be popular in USA because majority people are fat there.
Any niche can become profitable if there is demand for that product
  • Well, every niche can sell if you find the core of people problem.

But, if you are newbie, maybe you should start with something familiar. And when you earn some money and learn basic, then move to more competitive niches.
  • Whichever niche you are actually familiar with. You cannot possibly attempt, as a newbie (I assume you're a newbie since you ask "To Start With"), to make any money in a niche you're not truly familiar with. It just will NOT happen.

So, as a newbie, it's better to start with a smaller niche you're already a familiar with (for example: Mountain Biking, Home-based surround audio systems, etc) than a gigantic niche you know nothing about. Trust me, there's nothing worse as a newbie than to blindly trying to chase the big buck.
  • The most clicked and the most visited ones are usually the ones that are the most favored as the most profitable niche. Good luck.
  • Adsense earnings vary from niche to niche. some are higher paid. Best paid adsense niches are medical related and technology related.
  • Technology related blogs always earn high with adsense but I use all kinds of niches. Popular niches tend to get good traffic and a high click through rate.

Ones I have used that work well include
    Dating
    Relationships
    Dogs and Pets
    Health
    Teeth Whitening
    Acne
    Forex

That should get you started with some ideas. If you are looking for content see if you can find some relevant PLR content and re write it or hire someone to re write it.

    Hope that helps
  • I'd say just about any health related niche.
  • I doubt if there is any niche that does not have a competition.
The best thing is to pick a niche in what you understand
and also has little competition so you can rank high!
  • Try adult niche it's always working because people need it. Also it can be health care, fitness and date. It's good to be an expert in your niche.
  • Relationships / adult

    • I wouldn't so much look for "the right" niche as the right keywords within it.
Many attempts fail because they either target too competitive keywords, or because the really longtailed ones don't get many searches.

You need the right balance between searches, commercial intent, i.e. willingness to spend money and competition. Ideally the first two points should be high, the last one no more than moderate.

There are some good tools that will calculate the right ratio.
  • If you can pre-sell well clickbank have products in the sub niches mentioned above where you can get up to 75% of the commission of each sell.

If you can't pre-sell well you can look for cpa offers in the sub niches where you need only a email address / user or password to make a conversion.
  • @dessytall, you asked about muscle building. I actually think that's a very good niche. First, people interested in muscle building are willing to spend some money. Second, there are a lot of good longtail opportunities here. Example: whey protein hydrolysates. There's a ton of traffic for that kind of jibber jabber. Good luck!
  • The health/insurance and banking sector as well as the dating niche have been profitable for many for sometime
  • Health (newest miracle curse, loose weight & gain muscle, detoxic etc ), Make Money and Relationships and Human Sosicaldynamics (how to become the coolest guy on the planet..) never runs out of desperate customers.

  • Hi Dessy,

The 4 Major money markets are:

    Health & Fitness
    Business & Wealth
    Relationship & Dating
    Expensive Hobbies

What you want to do is find a sub-niche within these. People with problems in these markets are willing to spend money fixing their problem, so pick one of those markets and start doing some research.
    Example of Niche:
    Health Fitness>Weight Loss/Gain>Celebrity Diets/6 Pack Abs (sub-niche)
    Wealth & Business>Investing>Real Estate>Residential (sub-niche)
The do keyword research to see competition, cpc etc.

  • Here are the top 3 niches you may want to take a look at

    1. Make money online
    2. Lose weight fast
    3. Relationships

Check it out yourself at cbsnooper or cbengine. See the most bought products and they might just be something you want to promote or buy!
  • dog training! just kidding.
IM is a great niche with lots of opportunity seekers.
  • think it this way. where ever you can provide value. find a niche where people suffer the greatest pain.
  • it depends what you want to do. If you want to make money with products you should look at Amazon for the best sellers, find one with a higher price tag and with enough traffic (check with Google keywords) and create a review blog around it. But if you want to make money with adsense you should look what Google is making most money with and this happens to be finance and health related subjects. If you create a real interesting blog around eg mortgages or real estates that contains interesting articles you can make some money. I had also quite good Google adsense income with a diamonds news related site.
Best is in fact to choose a subject that not only can bring you some income but that you also enjoy readig and researching about. I am not sure creating a site about some obscure cancer forms is so exciting, unless you are interested in the medical field. But creating the site about "diamonds news" was quite fun actually and I was able to get a nr 2 spot in Google for that search term. I have to say this isn't an autoblog and that I created and tweaked each page manually. The best thing is to create one or two pages a day during a few months to create a real authority site, with many internal and external links and related pages to rank naturally, by just posting some interesting comments on related blogs , by creating a facebook fan page and a dedicated twitter account and say something about your new posts with a backlink each time you post you can create some backlinks, and your site will end ranking naturally and you will have fans.

  • Not really sure any nice is profittable but lookjing around is seems it`s weight losses
  • Why you say that weight loss is the "most profitable" niche is beyond me. It's certainly NOT the easiest niche to work with, by a long shot.
  • there are wide categories of niche to select from. however, those related to advice and tip of health, relationship and weight loss sells a lot.
  • Is there one person/expert who stands out from the crowd whose training you would recommend?
