Need Advice on Affiliate Site

From all the advice I've been given on WF (THANKS EVERYONE) I'm getting ready to put my first WP affiliate site up. But now comes a decision I have to make.

In the feedback given most of you stated that it's best to get the email address with the freebie then auto-respond with affiliate products. This path makes sense to me.....but I came across a couple of affiliate sites that are not doing this. They are simply putting links to a CB affiliate.....no squeeze or anything.

So can someone help me (yet again).......when do you make the call to build a site that leads directly to 1 affiliate....and another to the auto respond and offer like solutions......

Sorry for the elementary questions...

  • first, just because you see something on another site does not mean it is working or making them any money. they may in fact post the next thread asking for help.

now as to your question. the correct answer is you must test everything. but in general, you NEED to be building a list.

it is possible to make more money in the short term by just promoting an affiliate product and not asking for an optin. i will assure you thats its not the norm, but that does happen.

that being said, anyone who builds a list has a great potential to increase their longterm / lifetime visitor value far beyond the first time commission they may receive.

you need to do anything you can to make sure that todays traffic has lasting results.

  • Stay the course! Build the list and you can also send links directly to click bank. The difference is you will be able to do it over and over to your targeted list.... make sense?

  • By giving away the freebie and asking for their email in return you are opening the opportunity to establish a relationship with this person. You can trash that relationship by immediately sending them offers of some kind, or you can grow the relationship by sending them free, solid quality content and then, on occasion, sending an offer. I think this is the most profitable route in the long run. My 2 cents.

    • Build a list.

It's hard to do a lot when you're just getting started, but when you get some traffic and success, you'll be kicking yourself for not creating one. Use Aweber, it's free the first month.

Look at my site, www.isometricexercisesite.com It has affiliate text links, images, and videos, but I STILL BUILD A LIST.

Blog traffic comes and goes, but if you have a list, of even 25 people, you can always send them content and affiliate offers.

Stop thinking about it and do it. You'll be glad you did.

  • for long term business, you should build a list and offer your free products...you can always email them the updates and later promote others people product in the email list...

if you prefer to see money straight then you can just build a site and generate traffic all to there...those visitor whom like it will buy and those whom does not like it will just leave your site and never return again...you can make some money but not in the long term...

  • List building doesn't necessarily work for every niche but 90% of the time I agree - build a list you can market to over and over again. This is one of those reasons when you should do what you believe to be right (and test your results), not copy others who may or may not be.
