WarRoom New Thread Notifier

Just created a "WarRoom New Thread Notifier". It will notify you as soon as a new thread is created in the "Private Discussion" section or "Ideas, Strategies and Plans" section available under WarRoom's Private Forums

This tool is available as a Google Spreadsheet and internally uses Google Scripts.

Here is what you need to do -
  1. Make sure you are logged in Google Account
  2. Click on this spreadsheet link . Go to "File" > "Make a Copy" to get full editing rights on it. Rename it whatever you wish.
  3. Now go to "Tools" > "Script Editor" to change the email address as shown below
  4. Go to Script > Current Script Triggers and click on "Click here to add one now"
  5. Keep the first dropdon as it is. Select "Time Driven" under Events, "hour timer" and "every hour" in the next two dropdowns
  6. On the script editor itself, Go to File > Save.
  7. Close the editor.
Now whenever a new thread is posted in either of these subforums you will be notified with an email. (This script will do an hourly check)

    That's pretty neat trick. Thanks. Not essential but it was interesting to see how you did it and for that it was worth trying.

    Plus, the "Subscribe to this forum" link under forum tools when you're in the War Room only sends an update once a day or once a week so hourly will be an improvement. Allows other work to be done instead of wondering in there and getting lost in all the excellent goodies.

    Two thumbs up for this.

      Thanks. It can be even set up for every minute check. i didn't want to load Google servers hence kept it hourly.

    This doesn't seem to be working for me. I just checked the war room and there are new threads but I wasn't notified.

    Does it have to "activated" or something? Maybe I didn't save it properly? Are you all being notified of new threads?
