Newbie Needs Content Writing and IM Help

Hi! I'm a newbie at the "action" part of this IM thing. It's been interesting and educational. But I have a question for my fellow warriors. I want to provide content for websites. At first, I was thinking, I'd do anything but while I was doing some research I've heard a lot of buzz about the power of niche marketing.

So, I started to think of things I love to learn and write about and changed my website to say I'd only write for those markets. Is that bad?

Also, the article submission thing to article directories like EZA...is it worth it to do that? How do you create a niche within freelance writing? If you do, you may pigeon hole yourself. I don't know. I'm new at this and just need advice.

I'm very passionate about writing and I want to provide GREAT content. I just need some help.

Thanks!

My advice is to get on with it and take some action. You will never know the results until you take the time to put out the content. Don't worry about pigeon holing yourself with article directories. Write good onsite content, then write content for the article directories that is different and submit to as many as you can find.

There's no reason you shouldn't offer to write about things you know and care about. Those things would be your "specialty", your particular niche.

The only bad thing about limiting what you will write about is finding people that are in those niches. If you write about anything naturally you will have more clients. However if the new clients want things you don't care about your job satisfaction will be low. If this is your only source of income I suggest treating it like a job and doing whatever it takes to make money. If you have another job or income then work on what interests you till it takes off.
