What niches are worth building a list?

So, I still haven't built a list yet... one thing stopping me is, what sort of niche do you pick?

Here's what I know... you need to pick something that will faciliate you sending out an offer, of worth, every 2 weeks to a month... or so.

Can someone help me out here... what sort of niches should I be looking at... other than the obvious, and surely over saturated, such as, "how to make money online"

Others that spring to mind are, health and weight loss... but surely these are also very competitive.

Even though I'm in the IM niche, I've been told that you should be listing a list for whatever niche you're in. Competition isn't a bad thing. It's an indicator that there's lots of money to be made. All you have to do is get your foot in the door.

    Good luck,

I don't want to tell you what you already know, so I'll just say this.

Look for niches where people will repeat buy.

This could be anything - even something like food or batteries.

      Yeah, this.

Pick a niche where people spend money on a repeat basis, and try to pick a niche that you would never tire of working.

Yup. Find niches with rabid buyers.. Golf, self improvement, seduction, weightloss just to name a few

Avoid the ones who only require a quick and immediate fix (phone reverse lookup, registry fix etc).

Actually, the phone reverse lookup would be considered repeat buyers if the customer is making recurring payments. Then again; some of these types of sites offer a one-time .99 cent deal or something similar. This could be used over and over again, although the commission would be low on the one-time fees (some are $14.95).

I think you should build a list in every niche you enter. Lists can be an asset for a number of reasons other than to promote to. For instance I like to get feedback from my niche specific lists when I create new products. This is a great way to get testimonials and also constructive critiscm before launching.

I think the most important factor though is to build your relationship with them, provide them with quality information and resources. And because this is so important, you should certainly enter a niche (as tpw says) that you wont get bored of.

Think about your passions and do some niche research around them, I bet there are at least a couple that you could build a business around.

    Hope this helps

Thanks guys. I have a few sites that I'm on page 1 of google for.

Here's the general niches, pet, new age stuff, addiction, household products....

Now, my amazon product sites, I think I'll leave them be. But I may try something with the others.

The pet one is about cats, it's actually an amazon site, but doesn't pull in much cash... lets take this for example. Is this what I do?

I make a free report on how to get you cat to behave, for example, for users email address... Is that it?

I seem to remember free wp plugins for this purpose, it puts a strap line sign up bar at the bottom of your site... can anyone point me in the right direction... I think I seen it in the war room.

Another thing.... what offers/emails do I send my list... things I find on clickbank?

I can't think of a reason not to consider that virtually any product niche could be enhanced profitably by building a list. My style of marketing is progressing my customers through a sequence of incrementally higher end products from the inexpensive Clickbank niches up to ultimately Amazon luxury items. There's no reason to stop after selling one product; it's far easier to sell to existing customers than prospect for new ones.

I would say write down 10 to 20 things that you know how to do, hobbies, etc. Then narrow it down to least liked to most liked thing. Next do some keyword research on your the top 3-5 to see if there is money in the market. Make sure you find the pains, problems, training, etc. of your market.

Honestly any niche can benefit from a list... as long as a demand is there. I use my lists to promote physical products in a wide range of niches. Everything from posters to women's shoes to tickets for live events in certain areas.

Here's a hint. People LOVE discounts and they WANT discounts on the products they like. So find out where the people are that want their favorite products at a discount and then start building a list. Once signed up send them an email with the discount code in your affiliate link. And then just keep doing it. Over and over again.

The real money-maker markets you want to build a list in, is either in the Health, Wealth and Relationship markets.... Or all of them if you're propa badazz!

They're MASSIVE with tons of new people entering everyday therefore tons of money floating around. New products coming out all the time so you've always got something new to promote and they're evergreen... Basically meaning as long as there is the human race - these markets will always be HOT HOT HOT!

    Hope it helps!

General niches like health, wealth and relationships are very competitive, but you need to drill down and getmore specific. You can make money with less competition once you get more specific. Then the list building is the nextstep and thats the same process in any niche I believe.

IM niche is definitely a niche that you must build a list on right from the start. As you grow and become an expert in making money online, you can start preaching your tips and strategies to your leads or followers.

Once you get the trust from your leads and add value to them, this is where you can start selling valuable products to them and make a profit from it. To make good money, one must bring value to others and IM niche is a very profitable niche that all IMers must make full use of.

    Warmest Regards,
    Anson

    Not to oversimplify this, but:

Any niche you plan on staying and trying to obtain repeat buyers is a niche worth building a list in.

The point of a list is to get repeat orders/leverage in other ways. You can pretty much do that in any niche.

You can and should build a list in any niche possible. I've known some people that
have built lists in the "bug spray" niche. It just depends on your marketing efforts.

    Best Regards,

As afore mentioned competition is not a bad thing just have to target the correct sub-niche and offer what the reader expects... Keep it simple springs to mind

IM, health & beauty, anything related to a hobby

not all niches are good for a list, there are some stuff that only needed to be bought once!
