How I Succeeded In IM

First of all, I'm not here to share the latest BS secret to makings thousands of dollars per day... if I knew I would be doing it rather than talking about it!

I am sharing the basic principals and expectations that it takes to succeed in IM, from the point of view from something that has succeeded...me

By succeeded I don't mean I am making thousands per day and living on an island or anything. I mean I have finaly found the mentality it takes to succeed over and over and I have replaced my full time 'job' income, nearly ready to quit

--------------------------------------

Step 1 (Most Important Step!! If you can't handle this you WILL NOT SUCCEED):

Prepare to fail! that's right... not just once either... prepare to fail every single day, prepare to fail more times that you succeed. And even when you feel like you are close to success... prepare to fail again!

I guess the only way to really push through this is through determination. Whether you need more money to make ends meet, or you want to quit your job and live the IM'ers lifestyle, this desperate situation you are in WILL WORK TO YOUR ADVANTAGE! It will motivate you through the tough times and allow you to get control of your lifestyle!

--------------------------------------

Step 2 - DON'T Reinvent the wheel!!!

There are probably millions and millions of people trying to make money online and not succeeding.... You probably never even hear of them either. - They try, and then they sink back into their sad jobs, because they couldn't make it work. Probably because they either didn't follow and tried and true method, or they didn't stick with it (revert to step one).

If you think you know what is going to be the next big thing, or a huge gap in the market that is not being exploited, the likely outcome is that it is a death trap, a space where people have tried before and not succeeded. - That new idea you thought of... you might be surprised that it was already thought of.... and there's a good reason why it still doesn't exist!

--------------------------------------

Step 3. Persistance!

No money is made online overnight, you need to build systems, build rankings, and build traffic. Learn from what people are already making money with, and replicate it. Be prepared to be in it for the long haul. Treat it as a business, not a hobby. Do things that have to be done, even if you don't feel like doing them. Don't procrastinate.!

--------------------------------------
--------------------------------------

Here are some tips from me!...

Spend money to make money! WRONG! Make money to spend money! - Don't ever spend money on things that you are not sure if they will reap rewards or not. If you are genuinnely unsure, do more research!

Create a buzz in your market!! Use forums to your advantage... don't use them just for a crappy backlink, use them to create a buzz about your website, product, or service. Get REAL testimonials from people and create a network of positive motions towards your entity. - Like a spiderweb, capture your leads!

Accept responsibility!! One of the main reasons I am succeeding today is because of my attitude towards business, I know my business always comes first. So if people slag it off and pick holes in it, I do take it personally, but I allow this pain to motivate me in patching up the holes and perfecting my business, all while being overly supportive + helpful to my client.

That's it for now.

Thanks for listening to how I do business, and how I succeed.

Wishing you all the best in your online ventures!

Don't put a bunch of money out there when you're first getting started. There are so many ways to see your first dollars without spending a dime. Take that money and flip it into your business, not the other way around.

Well its true in internet business. We spend days to optimize our websites and wait for google to crawl it. When the wait is over then we again find ourself into same situation that we are still not gettnig much traffic, so we count it as failure!

Instead of counting it as failure we should see the success in 2 extra visitors we have got as result!

I remember that when I first started doing Internet marketing, it was fun yet challenging. It was fun because I was very passionate about this whole Internet marketing business yet challenging because I have no business or marketing background. It was very hard for me to grasp the marketing aspect of doing an Internet business.

Nonetheless, I persevere and keep learning as much as I could. I also take massive actions to turn my Internet marketing knowledge into reality. After 2 years of struggle, I finally made my first affiliate commission on Clickbank. It was a mere US$10.87. Although the money was very little... it was a huge confidence boost to my entire Internet marketing journey. I jumped in joy when I received my first Clickbank check of US$60! Now I made even more...

The truth is, success comes from taking actions and small efforts, repeated day in and day out. Many times, people give up before they even succeed. To be successful in Internet marketing and any other aspects of your life, perseverance is the key to success!

      Best Wishes!

A wise friend once said to me that when setting up a business it is best to have a J.I.T.P.

    Job In The Pub

He was talking slightly tongue-in-cheek – slightly joking – but the point was that it is easier, less stressful and you can risk failure more easily if your basic costs of living are covered by that job in the pub, or whatever job, while you are setting up.

Ie Set your new business up as a sideline, on a shoe-string and don’t worry about failure. Because then the worst case is, you carry on with your job.

Now, one thing that is often overlooked in all the IM product fluff is actually how hard you are going to have to work in building it. I work 1 or 2 days a week *now* and we get more than $20,000 a month – BUT it wasn’t that way to start with – and that has taken a few years to build up to.

DETERMINATION and PERSISTENCE are vital ingredients. You’ve got to want it and be willing to carry on working at it.

At the beginning, I worked dam hard. Most hours I was awake each day. It wasn’t a chore because it was fun, new exciting. Now I work less hours because I can, because I built in one vital component which is the main thing I would add to this forum thread…

    AUTOMATION & SYSTEMS

    This is a mindset thing.

If you can build into your brain a constant thought of “How can I automate this?” and “How can I systemize this?”

(Notice I did not say “Can this be automated” – ask HOW it can be - find a way to automate it. Most things can be)

There is usually a cost to automating it. Not always, but often. But think about how it can be systemized and how it can be automated.

Not only does this save you a huge amount of time – but then obviously you are free to achieve more with other things.

My advice is always – do it a few times yourself – so you fully understand the whole process – then systemize and AUTOMATE.

Good luck – and KEEP GOING

There are some good points in your post. However I completely disagree with one thing in particular. About if you spot a gap in the market or something someone else hasn't done yet ignore it...I completely disagree with that....I myself have seen opportunities in the internet marketing market for new things, and have not acted upon them and have later found other people discovering them, taking action and making a lot of money from them.

If everyone carried on following what ever one else is doing, and what is already successful and what already works. Then this industry, like most industries, would have been dead a long time ago. Its the people that are innovating and changing and testing and coming up with new and more effective ways of doing things that are the ones that are pushing this industry forward and keeping it alive. And in the process opening up doors for other opportunities for the rest of us.

    Thats just my personal opinion

If you're doing the exact same thing as your competition, you're not going to have any unique angle of course. However, if absolutely nobody is making money for a niche (let's say "IM is a scam" niche), you're going to spend a considerable ammount of money marketing it so people want it. You better start with something that works and add something unique than starting with something completely new.

Have you heard of the story, I don't remember the name of the city, where people were searching for gold. Someone got the idea of buying all the shovel in the city and said to everybody: there is gold in the american river! He became the first millionaire in the city.

Don't search for the gold, search for the shovel. Don't be hypnotized by what everybody is doing but go where people buy and want stuff

Great post. The quote above is one I preach to my students all the time. Fail fast and fail often.

My favorite quote is as follows...

"I am not judged by the number of time I fail, but by the number of times I succeed. And the number of time I succeed is in direct proportion to the number of times I can fail and keep trying." - Tom Hopkins

    Enjoyed reading this post.

Many newbies aren't sure how long it'll take to achieve success. It will take some time for a number of reasons.

Many people take some time finding something they enjoy and are good at. So let's say you start out with CPA but for some reason it's not for you - you need to start with something else and that will take time.

I agree with the JITP - definitely have a back up source of income. It can be a job, or it can be freelancing - I'm a bit biased towards freelancing since I liked it more than my job.
