Getting started with affiliate marketing..

Hey guys. I've put together a small plan. I found a product that I want to try to make some money off of. It's a kitchen appliance. I've found a few different affiliate programs for them and I plan on opening a website with reviews and links that lead to the affiliate page to buy the product..

It seems like i'm missing something. I'm trying to get started into the internet marketing business, this will be the first thing I have ever done with IM. Any tips or pointers or advice will be greatly appreciated! I'm not sure where to go from here or if what I have is good. Even if I don't make much, I want to make something asap to keep myself motivated.

My tip, go ahead and get started on it already. After you finish making your website I suggest you go to fiverr and hire someone to build backlinks to help you rank on google.

Sounds good. I'm going to try that. Hopefully I bring in at least some kind of cash from it.

This is a pretty broad request. If you feel like you're missing something, what do you feel like you're missing? What's your experience, can you build a website, have you read any courses on IM or making money online?

What do YOU think you need to do to make this happen and work ? Tell us what you're working with so far, and we'll add to it.

I'm not sure what i'm missing. It just seems like it's too simple to work, if that makes sense..Lol.

I can design websites, i've talked to a couple people and read around on the internet. I haven't read any courses or anything like that..Idk which ones I can trust or which ones to read. I can build websites. I've been doing it for a while.

So far my plan is to make a basic web page with reviews of the product and links which lead to the affiliate page to purchase the products. That's about all I have..Well I need to get traffic to the site as well.

Success in Affiliate Marketing doesn't happen overnight. Give it a little time, and then you can figure out "what's missing."

It sounds like you've got enough to get started -- one important thing is that you have some sort of analytics (like Google analytics, getclicky, or Piwik, for example) so that you know how people are coming to your site and what keywords they're using. This is super important for growing your traffic later, so be sure to set it up now!

Cooking/kitchen is a nice niche, especially with the holidays coming up since people tend to cook a lot more, which means they will need appliances and stuff. Personally, food is the best part of a lot of holidays for me. :-) All you need is a little training so that you can set up everything properly so it will be up and running when they come around.

For this, I recommend Unstoppable Affiliate by Andrew Hansen and Josh Stanton. They practice what they preach, and their program uses a realistic, practical approach to making money online--unlike a lot of the stuff out there. In addition to the basic course, they also offer a coaching program you might wanna take part in.

    To your online profits,
    Joey

    Jman992 - Brad here.

Well there are a couple of answers to your question depending on how much effort you want to invest.

First answer - put your wallet away - search for the free materials and you will eventually find that with some work you will learn what you need to build a site, monetize it and drive qualified traffic to it for sales.

The second answer comes with a little pitch. I looked long and hard for quality people to learn from on the net. I found Chris Farrell to be absolutely the best at training and explaining internet marketing. His training can be replicated. Once you master the technical issues - it becomes a rinse and repeat.

I also found Yaro Starak. His Blogging materials are very detailed and again free. His programs lay out how to organize, upload and monetize a blog that can produce - with the right investment of time and effort.

I also found Internet Business Mastery dot com. Jay and Sterling are exceptional. They have free ITunes podcasts ranked in the top 5. Right now recording 56 through 135 are up and available. A lot of folks download them and listen to them to and from various places (including their 9 to 5) until they can escape them selves.

Last I find Pat Flynn at SmartPassiveIncome.com to be very pragmatic and honest. His offering is primarily transparency and skill demonstrations.

I am impressed with these skilled experts. They are ethical, honorable and sincere in their interest in helping their students and anyone who uses their free materials.

Take a look at these trainers. You may find investing a couple months in training will save a year or more of "searching" for free stuff that can be understood and implemented easily.

Some have done just that - but my experience is that is like bucking the trend. Work smart not hard.

You bet - I used affiliate links to help you find the sites quickly. I am presuming you will be strong enough to decide if you want to just look. Study the sites. Yaro Starak gives away his free blogging book that has the whole story in it - free. So do not let affiliate links put you off. I use them to help you navigate.

Hope this is useful. Wish you all the success! Cheers !

Thanks you guys. All of that information definitely helps. I think one of my issues with learning all of that, is that it's hard to tell what is really worth it..For instance,

I don't mean any disrespect or anything but Miguelito talking about the Unstoppable Affiliate program, it looks like he has a link to that in his signature..Which means he is promoting it to make money himself..That's what I get from it, so it's just a bit overwhelming to figure out what is good and who's just trying to sell me something..If that makes sense. I'm not calling you out on that statement, just using it as an example. I'll definitely check out the program, but do you understand what i'm saying?

Everyone is out to make money, of course. I am as well. I'm just a bit skeptical at first. That may be one of my downfalls for this business.

With the project I am working on, I understand most of the concept...I can build the website and do anything I need myself. I just can't seem to figure out what kind of website to make...All I have so far, is that it should be a review site..But that still leaves a lot of information I need to figure out. I was thinking about going with a wordpress website..I could make posts with reviews of different products, I just don't understand how reviews about a kitchen appliance being posted will keep bringing people to my website, ya know?

Create a LIST! This is the backbone of any internet marketers income. The reviews and content on your site is just icing on the cake so to speak.

Create an Opt-In form that offers a free news letter, report, or video based on your niche. Once your list begins to grow you will realize that you have instant targeted and cash-in-hand traffic that won't ever go away.

Many people starting out are always searching for people to target and sell to, when all you have to do is reverse positions. Opt in forms are the quickest and easiest way to do this.

      Hi,

It is always good to have the passion to create something, in this case, creating a profitable website business.

For the first and foremost step, I would highly advise you to get your website created and built properly. It is highly recommended that you use a wordpress platform for your website creation as wordpress is the number one choice in terms of getting a site to be built.

One thing good about wordpress sites, is that you can add in plugins that will enhance your site. You can even customize your wordpress site easily and conveniently using the wordpress platform.

Once you have your first wordpress site set up, you can monetize it by adding your own products or affiliate products into the site. You can even add in Google Adsense ads to generate another stream of passive income from your site.

Once this is done, you will need to SEO-optimize your site to get it ranked well for certain lucrative keywords. This requires good keyword research skills and proper implementation of on-page SEO and off-page SEO on the site.

Finally, it is essential for you to promote your site by building quality backlinks and doing the necessary marketing efforts to drive traffic to your site and start making money from your website.

Internet marketing and website businesses are the next wave of wealth creation!

Wishing you all the best in your Internet entrepreneurship journey!

      Warmest Regards,
      Anson

Right. I understand all of this already and I am good with wordpress. I guess my main issue really is the topic of my website..The kitchen appliance I have in mind now seems like a decent product to market..But again, it's just figuring out how to portray it in my website. Should I have a website dedicated to reviewing these products? Should I have a website dedicated to my love of the products? (A little odd in my opinion)

I definitely plan on building a list..But again with this product..Who wants to subscribe to a mailing list about coffee machines or toasters...etc
