Article Marketing vs Opt-in List

Hi all,

When affiliate marketing, what strategies are most affiliates using? I've heard you only make it big with affiliate marketing if you have a huge list.

If this is the case, what is the best strategy to get to that point. For example, how do you get traffic to your list, is PPC the only option?

If people use article marketing, how many articles are you expected to submit to start seeing the sales coming in.

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks
Wendy

    Hi Wendy,

YOu do not need a list to sell a lot of affiliate products. You do need traffic and conversions.

The list can help you compound sales.

Traffic can come from many sources:

    -Forum
    -SEO
    -PPC
    -Articles

    etc....

Conversions can happen at the merchant offer if you direct link, presell or name capture list build.

Pick a style that works for you and go for it.

With articles, you must have quality but also quantity.

If you test your squeeze pages, you'll find that you'll convert more traffic over time. You market to what you have on your list (build the list to a few hundred first) then constantly build more lists or a bigger single list by article marketing.

It takes time but it works.

Another thing that works for a lot of people to get huge lists going quickly are giveaways. Some can be huge list builders. Haven't tried this yet though. Need to just do it.

    Hope that helps!

    Thanks James,

I heard about it's best having a list as you would have built up a relationship with your subscribers so they are more likely to buy from you if you recommend products.

I also heard it's best to have a presell page rather than direct customers to the vendor's salespage, is that the case?

    Thanks Brad,

I have a site with an opt-in giving away a FREE report, but my problem is getting traffic to my site.

I've only just started out with article marketing, so I only have 4 live articles and 2 pending at EzineArticles, plus I use an article submission service.

What is the ideal amount of articles to write per week?

    Thanks
    Wendy

The most common way to make money as an affiliate marketer is having a blog and building a list. When you have a blog, a number of people who come to your site via the search engines will sign up to your list without you doing much of anything. While this is the simplest way to start building your list, it's not the only one. There are multiple strategies that you could employ.

For Affiliate Marketing, you either have an opt-in list or you just need a landing page where you promote your offer. Then you just need to drive targeted traffic to the LP and you'll receive some converions.

Of course you need to test & optimize as always.

Hi Wendy - it's an absolutely unanswerable question, because making sales from article marketing just isn't about how many articles you have: it's about who reads them.

If you have five (or ten, or fifteen) articles on your site, and submit them to some number of article directories, and they don't produce a sale at all, then you can perhaps see that it would be pretty deeply misguided to imagine that two hundred more will suddenly produce a sale, either. If the approach is mistaken, the number of articles is irrelevant. If it doesn't work with 5 articles, it isn't going to work with 200 articles, either.

What matters is where you get them published.

It's not about publishing articles on your site and submitting them to directories and waiting for traffic to come to them. It's about taking your articles to the places where the already-targeted traffic you want to attract is already looking.

I make my full-time living from article marketing. I write three articles per month (per niche), and that's more than enough to serve all the content needs of my steadily growing, successful article marketing business. I couldn't cope with producing more articles than that: I wouldn't have time to get them published in the right places that produce traffic. That's the time-consuming part of an article marketing business, but it's also a part that's necessary to produce income.

This post may help you: it's an overview of "how article marketing works": http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ml#post5035794

Don't imagine that getting traffic and/or backlinks directly from article directories is going to help. Article directories do have a potentially valuable use in article marketing, but it isn't either of those! http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ml#post5068872

There's no "vs" about it: few (if any) marketers are going to go to the trouble of article marketing and not build an opt-in list from the traffic attracted. That would make very little sense: it would be like endlessly sifting for gold and then throwing most of it away. The two go together.

Since you have FREE report, you can send out your swipe, people will opt-in so here you got the traffic you needed & you're building your list & you chance for future cross promotion!

It's an amazing way to get traffic & build your list =)

Make sure you get the right Solo ads though! Solo ad "factories" are not going to help you because they jusyt want to make a quick buck from you and may make unrealistic promises. Make sure they have a good reputation, and a sizeable list to which to market your business.

    Hi Wendy,
There are numerous ways to drive traffic to your affiliate offers. If you are just beginning, I suggest you stick to offline CPA methods. This involves buying a URL and set it up so that it redirects to your offer. With this catchy website name, hand out flyers, post ads in newspapers etc. Even pay people to do it for you!
After this, you can re-invest this money into PPC with BingAds. All my students have been having great success with this platform at the moment.

    Good Luck!
