Get the users to stay on your site by having them perform certain small tasks like filling in a form or taking part in a small contest of some sort but whatever you do make sure that you don't distract them from the main reason that they visited your site.

Here's my impression, take it for what its worth.

When I arrived on the page, I was compelled to keep reading, at first...

Then, instead of getting the great info I was promised, I see a catalog.

You promise information on guitar pedals, but all I see is a bunch of buy now buttons.

Perhaps you should give more value upfront before hitting people up to buy.

I agree with ZachWaldman, when I landed on your website I think the design is great, I clicked on one of the reviews. First I don't think the review is in depth, secondly the big orange "Buy now" kinda tells me "this guy is writing this review so I can buy from him". Maybe it's because I am in IM and I can smell affiliate marketing from 2 miles, most times when I read review I do not like to see the buy button, I want honest unbiased review if you get my point. That's my 2 cents.

In my opinion you don't need any button, what you should do is write the pros and cons of the product, so that it doesn't sound like you are just trying to push for sale. The best way to sell in product reviews that I know is to use anchor texts with call-to-action words. Forget the buttons for now, you will be surprised how many clickthrough you will get by using text links.

    Example: Bentley continental supersport

The result is an all-wheel drive supercar that is faster and more agile than any Bentley built for the road. Click here to view available deals on this amazing car

Available as a two-seater coupé or four-seater convertible, its muscular exterior and distinctive interior styling is unmistakably Bentley in its design and craftsmanship.
This is a car created through the continuing desire to reach new limits.

The Continental Supersports represents a perfect relationship between engineering and design with the enhanced iconic GT looks reflecting and heightening the supercar performance. Click here for bargain price on eBay.

This is how I will do reviews. Textual links that inform users and ask them for the clicks. Also make sure you add lots of pictures and videos to your website.

I agree with ZachWaldman. You need to do something that catch their attention. I used to get 97% bounce rate on a good day and 100% bounce rate on a normal day. Take me sometime to get it down to 43% and I'm still working on this.

First impression is it looks too plain. I could be wrong, but it makes me think there's nothing interesting there. Maybe more graphics, but still having to do with distortion pedals.

I agree with everything that has been raised, the "buy now" button needs to be revised so you are a little more subtle with your selling. As Dee stated add a link to a page that gives you your sale instead of asking for the sale next to the review. That to me says i want to sell you this product so my review will be sales orientated. Also just jazz up the graphics a bit, you have a really nice site with a decent amount of content, so your only short fall site wise is the graphics.

To be honest, the site hurts my eyes. It may be my large screen, but the static kinda got to me. Also, the home page is where you should try to sell your website to the consumer; why should they spend their time on your site? It looks like you're only trying to make a quick buck. Check out the website I built (link below) for an example.

It depends because not all site deserved a 20% bounce rate. If you are doing a hotel booking site, sure your bounce rate has to be that low. For a normal site, anything around 70% should be ok.

I agree with those who have pointed out that the fact you're an affiliate may be slightly too obvious.

Have you considered the site may also be too plain to encourage people to look around. Sure it is a nice simple design, but where is the character?

Every site and market is different and therefore each would warrant a different result in terms of bounce rates. You should absolutely set up A/B testing to try to improve your bounce rate and also take a close look at the keywords you are being found for and match the content on you page as closely as possible to that. I read a great article reagarding bounce rates and thought you guys might find it useful as well.
