It involves a lot of research. Read everything published about the product. Go to the product manufacture's website and see if you can find a downloadable operating manual (many offer them). Read the feedback on other websites. If you have a Twitter account ask there for opinions from product owners. You can do the same on Facebook and Yahoo Answers.

From everything you've gathered, write a very detailed review with a section for bullet points and, also mention a few negatives you may have come across in your research; this immediately gives you a lot of credibility.

Even better if you have also discovered a solution to any problem that someone has pointed out.

Include pictures and a call to action in the form of a link to Amazon. Don't cut and paste one of the standard Amazon link graphics.

    Hi Spen,

I find that the best way to write a product review is to use the product yourself.

However, if that's not possible, then do the next best thing. Go to websites where people are talking about the product. This way you'll learn about the pro's and con's of it and write a good review.

Amazon itself contains a lot of product reviews so you shouldn't run out of them.

    Best regards,

    Mary

Writing a GOOD review is hard. One great idea is to look on Amazon itself for long, detailed reviews from people who have purchased the product. Try to emulate the style those people talk in: conversational, simple language, talk about the pluses and minuses of the product.

One thing you can do is go to the product site and look at the points they highlight. Then turn those features into benefits... For example... if a feature says..."long battery life"... the benefit could be "What that means for you is less frequent interruptions while you search for more batteries..." or what ever.... the point is... tell the reader what's in it for them...

Those with many review sites have probably found a way to outsource the review writing so some degree.

I think the best way is to pick products that you know about and then you can write quality reviews and really build trust that way.

If you're gonna make a review site, you need to have real-life experience with products in your niche. There's no way around that--unless you have lots of experience. You need to know your audience so you can connect with them and build trust. You need to know what kinds of questions they ask themselves before they purchase certain products...

Once you know all that stuff, you need to know how to set up everything properly so that you can get targeted traffic and get seen in the search engines so you can make money. On the plus side, Amazon has been around a long time, and people really trust it. I do most of my shopping for the holidays there.

Now is actually the perfect time to start making money with review sites because the holidays are around the corner. The good news is you still have time to learn what you need to know and get the ball rolling. For training, I recommend Unstoppable Affiliate.

It teaches the beginner marketer how to make money online with review sites using affiliate marketing--without all the hype and lies and bs. The creators have real-world experience and really know their stuff. In addition to the basic course, they also offer an optional coaching program you can choose to take part in.

    Good luck,
    Joey

Try to answer the following questions:

    * Who should use this product? (or) Who are the users of this product?

    * What does it promise to do? (features, benefits)

    * How does it do its job?

    * What did you like/dislike about the product?

    * How does it compare with other brands or other products in the same category/niche?

As Mary Wilhite said, the best way to write a review of a product is to use it yourself. However, if this is not possible, you can do some research and find out what people say about the product in forums, etc. Use the questions to guide you as you do your research.

    I hope this helps.

Quality over quantity is definitely better for a review site. When possible use the product.

Don't restrict your review site to only reviews. There are many ways you can promote Amazon and other products such as comparison charts, best of articles, coupon & deals page, etc.

Also, I find writing a buying guide that goes into the details about a particular product line useful for readers. It can be one web page or a series of articles going into details on every feature. For example, you could write an in-depth article about the warranties for particular product-lines.

Whether you promote a single product, product line or several product lines, strive to give as much information for consumers as possible. Create the go-to site about your product(s).

Also, don't be afraid to go back to existing reviews and articles and improve them.
