Hey Whipple, Squeeze This by Luke Sullivan - THE definitive guide to writing a good advert which has some cracking examples inside.

And I do like Bob Bly's Business to Business Direct Marketing - I bought an old version from Amazon for around $4 and it's got a ton of stuff still relevant today.

      Who is the author please?

Only when enough posters have contributed, I'll reorganize all of the suggestions so everyone can see the list of top marketing books more readily.

      Cheers!

I agree...Ries and Trout introduced the concept of "positioning" back in the 80's which is taught in every marketing class in the US.

I'd also add "How To Win Friends And Influence People" By Dale Carnegie.

There's a great book called "The Power to Get In", which isn't a sales guide, but rather a step by step guide on how to get in the door of decision makers in big time corps so you can make your pitch. Just getting a meeting is often much harder than making a sale.

It uses concepts called "internal and external" leverage and is a great read. I've used these psychological leverage techniques in other ways with great success. I highly recommend this book to everyone doing off-line marketing.

I'm surprised that no-one has yet mentioned probably
      the #1 marketing book ever...

      Scientific Advertising by Claude Hopkins

I know that Jay Abraham has read it over 50 times.
David Ogilvy said that no-one should be involved in
advertising until they've read Scientific Advertising
      at least 7 times.

      Another great marketing book is...

      Breakthrough Advertising by Eugene Schwartz

It's a much more challenging read but it contains marketing
gems galore for more advanced marketers.

      Dedicated to mutual success,

More than half of the laws in "22 immutable laws of marketing" have been proven wrong. The book was written so long ago and most examples of how things won't work ("USA Today will never succeed!") have worked really well in the end.

5 more top marketing books have been added to the list as recommended by your fellow marketers.

There must be loads more marketing books you can recommend?

What are you reading right now? Or have just read? What marketing books have you read which were almost impossible to put down?

More recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

And if you want to see links to each book, where you can buy each individual title, just give the word and I'll gladly do it on your behalf. Whatever makes things easier for you all.

Any others please to add to this growing list?...

      "Influence" (Robert Cialdini) is excellent

"Crush It" by Gary Vaynerchuk - I've heard that the audio version is even better (no surprise for those who know what Gary V is like! lol)

"4 Hour Work Week" (Tim Ferris) - this one really surprised me. I LOVED it.

"Love is the Killer App" (Tim Sanders) - may be a bit too "touchy feely" for some, but I think this guy's overall take on how to operate in business and life is right on target.

Not all marketing, of course - but pretty much everything can influence our marketing, right?

I also really liked "Delivering Happiness" by Tony Hsieh - but that's probably even further off the mark as far as "marketing" goes.
