How I Just Got 2 New Clients in Under 10 minutes

I honestly had some errands to run today, and was not even thinking about web stuff. I do however always carry some business cards with me.

So, I had to go downtown and get my watch band fixed. After parking I had to walk by a few streets and noticed some kind of little outdoor vendors thing going on. I decided to take a quick stroll through.

I found a guy selling something that I needed to get as a replacement item for someone. They had one of those whirly gig birds - that the wings go around when the wind blows and their birds wing had broken off after about 20 years. I spotted the guy selling them, and immediately ran over to snatch one up as it is very specific. While deciding which color to get I just asked the guy if he had a website (lol, didn't even waste time with idol chit chat). He said yes, and I quickly pulled out a card and explained I would be in the area for the winter and to contact me if he wanted any help. He immediately asked me if I do link building - and of course I said yes (hell no I don't do that - but know how to outsource it ) - so he took the card and will be in touch soon.

I grabbed my new bird and walked away - and an orange purse caught my eye just a few stands down the way. I went up to ask the gal how much - and then if she had a website, lol - and she did but needs to revamp the whole thing. I slipped in "are you selling on Etsy" and she immediately said she was gearing up to do that. I pulled out a card for her too - and she was very excited to grab it and set up a meeting as she outright told me she just didn't have the technical expertise to get some things going. I didn't buy the purse (ran out of cash) but mentioned cutting a deal for a hefty discount down the road and that elated her.

So, if you are driving around and see some kind of street fair or something, take a minute to look around. It is really as easy as just asking them if they have a website. Even if you are not in the mood to buy anything - they might be.

I could have hit up everyone there but was trying to make another appointment and had to dash.

Now that I think about it I want to kick myself as I see I just left a lot of money on the table.

    WOW!!!

This is a PER-FECT reminder, Jill.

I was actually checking the WF before heading out to an art show downtown. There will also be vendors there...so who knows where that will lead.

However, it also seems serendipitous that I would just so happen to check the forum at this precise moment, and that this thread would be here.

    So...

    Thanks Jill!

    Thanks Warrior Forum!

    All the best,
    Michael

Well done Jill, I had a similar experience a few months ago while buying a wrap from a street vendor.

She was stressed out so I asked why... website problems.

    Bingo!

So a new client, plus free wraps for life. Not bad.

Very inspiring story Jill! Thanks for sharing!

There is definitely a correlation between people who are successful and those that aren't.

This is a great example of how we don't need to buy the latest WSO or product to make money in this business. It can be as simple as asking the small business owner if they have a website!

Simple and effective. Nice tip Jill.

If you look at it, what she did is basic salesmanship.

Follow her approach of showing interest to the vendor's product
first. It will lower their defenses and allow you an opportunity to
    mention your pitch.
