Yahoo is also a big search engine.

Also, you can create backlinks on social media sites, forums, and any other sites that fit your niche and allow posts.

Doing basic SEO not only helps with Google rankings. It would also help with rankings for other search engines.

That is a pretty open ended question.

First, if you are not getting target traffic from google, you may need some keyword adjustments, maybe a more specific long tail set of keywords.

That will help with the other search engines besides google too.

If there are blogs in your niche and they allow comments or guest posting you can gain some traffic and backlinks that way.

Create some web 2.0 sites around your niche and link back to your site.

There is no magic button, it takes work and time.

I hope I understood your question correctly.

This keyword is just so competitive....

Even the long-tail-keyword with 76 searches per month, is impossible to rank it then...

I know facebook is best in getting traffic, but most are seeking for fun.
I assume they won't make any purchase.

Also, Yahoo is hard to score said that Yahoo rarely update a keyword ranks.
Maybe 3 to 6 months from it...

        Looking for more helps, thanks!

Then it must be a buyer keyword... good!

There is no keyword that you can't rank for and no site that can't be beaten. Right?

I just find it peculiar that your sig is touting your backlinks that can help someone to "Dominate Google Now"... yet you can't rank for a longtail with 76 searches per month?

Depends on your niche. Determine who your 'perfect customer' is (target audience) and think about where they hang out online. Are they on Facebook? Are they watching videos on YouTube? Do they regularly visit a certain website? If so, does that website offer banner advertising?

There are so many ways to build traffic, but focusing on all of them isn't the answer. The best thing you can do is go where your customer is.

I agree. Marketing is all about knowing your target market. Find out where they are and which sites they visit. Taylor fit your ads with regards to who you are talking to.

I agree with previous members. I like to add that first think about your target market, understand what they search to find you this way you can able to find long tail keywords, adjust your content and site tags as per that. This will help you long term. Beside that like others suggest try sites like facebook, bing etc. Also you can take location specific seo approach.

There is a lot of competition in Google, but it can also be a huge source of traffic. The other cool thing about Google is that once you get listed in there and begin getting traffic, the other search engines like Yahoo, Bing, will follow. That said, social bookmarking sites, forums, blogs, article directories, and even social media sites like Twitter are a few examples of places to get traffic. Diversification is the key. However, traffic from search engines is the most targeted because people are typing in exactly what they are looking for.

If you're trying to make money with a blog/niche site, it's all about laying the proper foundation and getting the right training. Everything else will naturally fall into place. For training, I recommend Unstoppable Affiliate by Andrew Hansen and Josh Stanton. It's an internet marketing training program that uses a realistic approach--without all the fluff-- that's specifically geared towards newbies so that you can get up and running as quickly as possible. They also offer an optional coaching program. With the holidays around the corner, now is the time to get going.

    Good luck,
    Joey

You're right with the "getting traffic diversificationly" from social media site.

But who else is interested in buying a software.

      Appreciate your comment.

    There are gazillion traffic sources

    1) PPC
    2) Media buy
    3) YouTube
    4) Joint Venture partnership
    5) Bing and Yahoo!
    6) Facebook
    7) Articles directories
    8) Forums in your niche
    9) Social networking - twitter etc
    10) Buying ad space

where do they hang out? I have a "programming" video tutorial course and most of the people go to YouTube first, so that's my best source of traffic.

Wow, all seem relating to $$$.

You're right with the YouTube, I think I will try video marketing then.

Now that you guys remind, the keyword is kinda cold and not popular.

      It's useless promoting thru media(s).

      Anyway thanks.

I value YouTube as a good source of traffic but it attracts many youngsters who are less than serious about doing business.

It's a small price to pay to have to sift through to the people who are more serious.

I agree with most that you should focus on your target customers. It is also worth noting that these customers are also located offline. Go after them offline as well. It all adds up.

I keep it real simple. Just write relevant articles for targeted online and offline publications. Nearly 60% of my affiliate sales is generated offline. In relative comparison as a source of traffic, Google is insignificant.
