How to handle high profit launches?

I don't want to give a way what I'm working on, but I need help. I've never launched anything that has the capability of this. I'm guessing I could potentially get $10,000+ in the first month. I know this may not be a lot to some of you, but from going to nothing to that is quite a bit. I was wondering if anyone can give me any legal advice, as well as how I can handle this with Paypal? Will Paypal think there is something fishy going on, seeing as how not much activity went on in my account for 2 years and then a ton in one month?

What steps are involved in handling a huge product launch for the first time?

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

    1. IMO $10,000 in one month is not really what I would call a HUGE launch. It's a nice amount of money but in terms of causing any problems, I don't think so. If it were all in one day then maybe I would be concerned but over a month I wouldn't really worry too much about it.

If you are serious about things then my only advice to you is make sure you go through the additional steps and get yourself a Paypal BUSINESS account - obviously that is an abnormal amount of money for a Paypal personal account to be processing and could very well ring the alarm bells and put your account up for review - especially if your account has sat dormant for years like you say it has.

    2. Never come to a public forum and ask for 'legal advice'. Only ever take that kind of advice from a legal professional. All I will say in regards to this is to keep a record of all your transactions and don't go spending all your money at once - you will need to pay tax on this money just like any other business.

You want to try to use a verified business account that has a bit of age and some sort of history of sales if possible. Other than that just be sure to call them and communicate with them about your impending product launch and the amount of sales that you expect to receive and when.

I have done over 10k in a day and had no issues so you should be just fine so long as you keep them up to speed with what you have going on..

I am in two minds about this.

I don't think communicating your intentions to them will stop anything from happening. If I were going to run a scam through Paypal I could just as easily call them up (just like you suggest) and warn them of a large amount of money I will be processing. Paypal are aware of this and so they would take this warning with a grain of salt.

Abnormal activity is still going to be flagged by their automatic fraud detection system regardless of whether or not you have contacted them before hand. Personally I would not bother warning them because it is only going to bring unnecessary attention to your account and it won't stop anything from happening. If they suspect any kind of foul play they are going to limit/freeze your account regardless and ask questions later.

Alright that's good to hear. I do have a verified business account with some moderate activity over the last 2 years, but nothing over $500 really.

When you call you should be sure to have your account notated, this way there is always a reference that you gave them full warning ahead of time should anything happen.

This is the route that I have always taken in the past and it hasn't really failed me so... Then again I can't say that I am sure this is the reason I haven't had any problems either, paypal is a pretty fickle company to deal with at the end of the day..
