Just finished a major inbox culling... Who do you rate and why?

Hi all,

Just had a bit of a clear out and cancelled my email subscription to a LOT of different marketers lists... feels good I can tell you!

I ended up with a few people that I either appreciate, have learned from, or I just like to see how they are handling their list and it got me thinking about everyone else and people I may not have even heard of.

Who do you look forward to getting an email from? And why?

Are they funny? Do they give LOADS of freebies? Or do you just trust them, and what gave them that trust?

I think it may help a few people find a new person to follow and maybe even get a few people to prune their own inbox! lol!

I'll start with some of the ones I have left to get the ball rolling (in no particular order):

Mark Dickenson: Backlink bully and Youtube bully, thought they were great at the time they came out and he tends to send some good honest content, but not too much of it.

Charles Kirkland: On his list from getting a product and the extras he gives out are insane so would be mad to leave!

Coby Wright: Just comes across as a very honest guy who actually gives a cr*p if you are doing ok with his stuff.

Ryan Moran: Doesn't send too much any more but still like to hear what is going on as he was the first person to get me making money online waaaayyy back when..

E. Brian Rose: Another good one for finding cool stuff out there and bringing it to your attention...

There are others... some I keep to study (Mike Filsame, Maria Gudelis, Mike Cowles, Russel Brunson) and some I keep as they are few and far between... but those are the ones I enjoy getting.

Now I am sure I am missing some I should really know and I have probably missed ones out that will pop into the inbox tomorrow... but what does everyone else hate/love and why?

May help the budding list builders out there to see the right way to do it (and how not to do it!)

I cleansed my subscriptions several months ago I think I unsubscribed from about 60+ :O)

Paul Myers - Quality, Quality, Quality and a fellow darts / pool player

Jimmy D. Brown - The Godfather of Informational Products, learned loads from Jimmy's products

Dean Holland - I know Dean so I'm just spying on him lol

Alex Jeffreys - Mentor and Marketer of Excellence, very cool dude

Frank Kern - Like his style of email marketing, shame I can't afford some of his courses YET

Charlie Page - Track record speaks for itself

That's all, I think? Perhaps I've missed one or two off...

It's rare that I actually unsub from someone's list. There is something to be learned from just about everyone out there... how to write good copy and how NOT to write copy. I look at my inbox all the time and do a quick scan to see what jumps out at me and why. I don't care who the person is.

I also reply back to some of the stuff I get. Try it sometime. It will tell you whether or not the person is genuine and real or if they're just in it for the buck. There's nothing like someone telling you that they are interested in you, what you're doing and "Your Success" only to have them never reply to an email.

Good call on the reply to them idea, didn't mention it but that is why several of the names I have on my list have stayed there... off the top of my head Coby, Ryan and Mark D all struck up a convo and made me feel like they actually cared which goes a long way to retention of your subscribers.

Any other tips from people as to why they like a certain list? Think it will be helpful for people trying to do the same..

    So far we have:

Just to look at copywriting skills (or lack of)
    Replying to questions
Having a connection (e.g. Play same sport) so guess that is sharing personal info

    Any others?

Just for starters, here are three who I trust implicitly:

      1. Dave Nicholson
      2. Randy Smith

A couple of lads from the North of England who have both built excellent reputations for supplying high quality coaching and products, especially for newbies.

I 'test contacted' them both individually. In each case they called me back at home to save my phone bill.
In both cases, although I made it clear I had little or no funds to invest at that time, Dave and Randy each spent a considerable time talking to me. There was no hint of any sales pressure, and Randy even took a look at one of my sites to make some observations and recommendations. Maybe this is my way of paying forward the excellent personal service.

      3. Chris Farrell
I think it's all been already said about Chris. No - he didn't phone me, but he did reply to one of my comments recently; a tough job when you've got thousands of followers and fans.
His Membership site is second to none. Bursting with tons (and I mean tons) of clear useful advice, aging particularly for the newcomer, and he gives away loads of free stuff, even before you join up.
. . . and at last, Chris is launching a 6 week mentoring course, where he guarantees that you WILL make money in that six weeks, or DOUBLE your money back - wow. That's a win-win if ever there was.

I'll be adding some more names later, but these are my top three.

      Cheers
      Alan

For me it would have to be:

Stuart Ross and Daniel Wagner (I'd have to say that since I'm a member of their Six Figure Mentors community)

I think Charlie Page is a good call from william1872. I only came across him today but he seems like a genuine marketer.

Sean Donahoe is another guy who tells it like it is.

These guys don't sell you the hype; and I'm starting to hate hype as much as spam.

Perry Marshall is one of the only ones where I'll read it everytime. I just haven't signed up for many lists since I was really into following IM launches.

The rest of the guy's list I'm on are the promoters. No content, unless you consider "pre-launch" stuff content.
