How do you attract affiliates?

I'm wondering what are the best ways to attract affiliates?

My product on Clickbank currently pays out 40% commission. Should I up that to 50 or 75%? The price point is $17-54, ave. $37, depends on whether I have a special promotional sale going on.

I also have banners created that they can use.

What else has worked for you? What attracts you as an affiliate?

What exactly is your product? The commission really depends on the maret and product that you are in.

The best way is to create an affiliate section and promote that on communities and forums

Sandra I would say that it really does depend on your product and also on the target market. If the niche is not one that is very profitable or well known that could be one of your problems.

It could also be that your niche is too broad and your product does not really drill down to fixing a very specific problem in that niche. I am not saying your product is not popular or good, but if an affiliate does not see that is is going to appeal to their list or help solve a problem for their ideal customer then they will not be joining up.

I do not know what your product is, these are just some reasons as an affiliate I would not pick a product to sell. I want things that are going to be helpful to my customers, that will fix their problems and that will add value to them.

        Thanks for your input!

Right now I just have one product called Raffle Secrets and it appeals to people who are planning a raffle. I have a page and email list dedicated to affiliates. Links are in my sig below.

I also have a product in the works for internet marketers. That one will be released in a few weeks.

Offer them as many tools as you can. Different sized banners, PPC keywords, articles, autoresponders, brandable pdf's, etc.

Also make an affiliate squeeze page and capture their emails so you can email them updates, new affiliate tools, and best of all upcoming launch announcements.

I harvest emails from opt-in lists (you can find opt-in lists on article directories like ezinearticles.com. i will release a WSO about affiliate building in the future watch out!).. and send around 20-50 emails each day telling each and everyone that I have a perfect product for their market and I'm giving them %75 commissions (really nothing compared to how many sales you will receive).. This way i get around 5-10 super-affiliates ready to bring sales.. But the main thing is that you will need to harvest a lot of emails of opt-in list builders, and often times, just 2-4 of 200 respond. But that's really enough to bring lots of sales.

My moto - better with one affiliate generating thousands sales, than thousand affiliates generating no sales.

Setup a squeeze page. Build 10 to 20 products. Test your squeeze page and product conversion rates and tune up everything.

Now contact affilaites and JV partners to promote your entire funnel and drag leads to your squeeze page.

They will be excited if you have a complete working funnel of 10-20 products and all of them making them money.

To sweeten the pot, add few products with 100% commission, introduce some high ticket products in the range from $500 to $1000 at the backend, include membership sites that make monthly income and have high ticket coaching program in the range of $5000 per year.

Provide commission for all of the above. You will be surprised that top level marketers will constantly give you leads if you are successful in setting up the above system and tune it up where 1 lead in your system can end up earning you $10 and probably $5 to your affiliates after few months.

Then it is just a matter of contacting affiliates and telling them your numbers $$$...

    Hope this helps...

I definitely think that increasing the payout percentage to 60% or more could help.

You may also want to run a contest.

Check out this contest site: Viral Marketing - Contest Burner Online Contest Software

I've never personally used it but I bookmarked this site thinking, "Hmm, this looks interesting. Maybe I'll use it in the future."

I'd suggest doing some research to see if Contest Burner is a reputable and decent product that can help you with your goals. GOOD LUCK!

Sandra, you have to keep in mind what many of the ebook sellers are offering on CB. I would think you'd want to offer at least 50% and probably even more to get it on affiliate's radar. I'd also look carefully at the niche it's in and where it's listed in CB, see what the competitors are doing. If you have a good conversion rate on the sales page, I'd point that out also.

Thanks for all of the ideas!

I just upped the commission to 75%, that was an easy one. Perhaps that payout will attract a few more affiliates. But I know that I need to have better stats. Right now on clickbank it says Initial $/sale: $9.59 | Avg %/sale: 40.0% | Grav: 0.25

I am running an email special with one website owner and will have the final results from that at the end of the month.

Knock up your commissions to 75%

Try to get your affiliates to optin so when there's any news you can mail them.

Have a comprehensive set of tools on your "Affiliate tools" page like email swipes and banners.

Never tried this one but have competitions and give away prices like Ipods if you sell 5 units etc.

Advertise your Affiliate page like the Clickbank forum and even here in the "Affiliate Program" forum. There's tons more but you gotta find them.

    Anyway I hope this helps!
