Is Internet Maketing Getting Harder?

Hi, I have been making a great income online for 6+ years now, it's a fulltime job for me!

I recently reviewed the amount of time I spend on mundane tasks, such as niche research, validiating niche, website build, traffic generation.....blah blah..... I spend HOURS a day on these tasks!!

I have come to the realisation that in order to succeed online you have to have either money to invest or a boat load of time, ideally both!

Do you think it is getting harder to carry out IM tasks and make money online as more and more features, programs, tactics come along in the industry?

Just wanted some opinions!!

Thanks

I was thinking about this just yesterday myself, it was confusing enough when I got started but now there is just so much noise a newbie would need to be really focused or have a good mentor.

It's easier to get started now than it ever was. But with the amount of noise, distractions and different methods being promoted, that could make things more difficult.

Well, everything is developing and surely more and more people join Internet business. Many tactics you used 6 years ago just don't work now and the competetion in every sphere is getting harder.

P.S. I like your sig about thinking big )))

I think it perhaps takes more work now than in did back-in-the-day. With that said, there are also far more opportunities as well. I don't like everything about it, obviously (don't know anyone who likes every aspect of their work), but I choose to focus on the things I do like.

I don't think the basic principles are getting harder. What is getting harder is all the distractions . Magic money methods..etc.

it really depends how you take it. If you start slow, test things out initially and then go thru the paid traffic route I guess you will end up breaking even your ad cost instantly and this simply means free traffic and loads of cash. It is how you take your online business.

Setup your system, discover how much you are making out of $1 investment in your niche, based on your testing if you start investing your money it will not only make you autopilot income but also help you to drive free traffic at will.

The right answer is that you need to have the right knowledge to move ahead...

There is still a lot of potential to make a killing, everyone can do that. It's always the same, learn the basics, be focused, effective and then learn from your own mistakes, repeat and improve. There are money waiting for the bests, not for most lucky ones.

The most important thing is being focused and knowing exactly how to spend your time wisely in IM. The to do list is essential, though I don't personally use it all the time. And I believe that due to the increasing number of IMers, quality of work and consistency will count a lot for you to be successful. All in all, IM is a good experience, and spending time in it will pay off eventually.

There is a lot more competition now. Sadly, a lot of it is from over seas. Actually, many people are ready and willing to work for below minimum wage. This really puts a damper on prices you can charge for your services.

Expect going forward to charge your customers less and deliver more. Perhaps, this is a good thing for customers, but that it not the case for you.

The harder it gets, the better it gets. I, personally, don't want it to be so easy that specializing in it becomes a lost art.

I don't think it is really harder. I just think there are way more people involved, although many won't succeed for many reasons. But their mere presence is enough to make everything seem so much bigger and harder.

    Internet marketing is evolving.

Some things are easier today than they were back in 2000.

I remember Frank Kern laughing about how he spent $2,300 to launch his first video online and how big of a pain it was.

And then along comes YouTube and makes it so easy a caveman can do it.

As far as my outlook is concerned, the internet a vast sea of opportunity with no end in sight. (Unless the powers that be turn off the internet.)

There is certainly more competition that there used to be. I have heard the stories of how easy it was back in the Adsense goldrush from the early days.

You answered perfectly- the IM world is evolving!

Entry seems easier now and there are far more opportunities online.

We now have Facebook, youtube, Google adwords and a host of affiliate programs.

Not only that, there are probably hundreds of ways to market a product. We IM types mostly focus on few.

Even if marketing is tougher now, it is cheaper with a tons of places to post them, many for free.

Where we had 10 gurus in the past, we probably have a hundred now.

It's been getting -much- easier for me as I continue to learn more and implement new ideas. You can't stick to old routines. Gotta continue to adapt and grow.

With the raise of competition, I think it is getting harder but if you have a proper marketing strategy and etc, you will still succeed with IM in 2011.

Too much information. Someone has to be very dedicated and sort it all out in order to do this.

In a sense that some people, especially for those who are new to the IM world, are experiencing information overload which will really make their life in the IM world a bit difficult. As I have also experienced that when I was new to the IM business, I really believe that it was very hard to earn some money since there are lots of ways to earn and there are also numerous methods or techniques that can be applied on how to earn some money. I mean, I was facing different options on what to do, where to start, when to start and to focus and most especially, how to maintain what I have been doing. All of these are troubling my mind during those times since there are other people such as my friends both offline and online will try to present their ideas and concepts on how to earn money from online marketing.
Life is a continuous evolution, and so is technology, but the basics is still there with a little updating and enhancements. Once you overcome that challenges and difficulties, it gets easier afterwards since you already surpassed the difficult part from the start. Focus is one of the important ingredient for success, since it is difficult to work on different methods/ways at the same time, rather than focusing on one method at a time (although I will not say that it is impossible to do that, but a bit difficult for my own personal viewpoint as a 5th grade newbie, lol)
Everything should be learned and studied before finally deciding to dwell on the IM business that you are interested to do with. Always remember, you need to enjoy on everything that you do.

Marketing online is no different than marketing offline. It takes research to find out what people want and then the motivation to be the one that provides it.

Marketers from a hundred years ago would slap you in the face if they ever heard you ask if it's harder than it was before. You have more tools available to you and an ever growing market to capture.

Stop buying all of the "shortcuts". That is what is tripping you up. The key is to learn the basics of marketing and do what needs to be done the hard way. As you do this, you will start to learn what tools you would like to make things easier on you. Then you can search for those specific things.

The harder it gets, the higher the intellectual entry level gets, the higher the intellectual entry level gets the more money people who do succeed will earn. It'll also weave out those who shouldn't really be in this industry in the first place.

I still think a domain name should cost $1,000 per year. That way you're going to stop buying domains impulsively, and you're going to start thinking twice about what you're doing.

It's getting easier, because more and more of your potential customers are looking online for products/services and solutions than ever before. Sure, there's a lot of competition out there, whichever niche you're in, but there's plenty of room for us all!
