I need a coach

I want to get started on an internet business using websites and blogs, but I always fall short when it comes to backlinking and SEO. Like, I'll create the website and use all of the SEO knowleidge on and off-page for my site and it still won't rank, so maybe I'm doing something wrong with my backlinking or something. The point is, I need a mentor or a coach to look over my shoulder and make sure I'm doing things the way they would, so I can at least make sure I'll make money this time and not be wasting my time.

Who is the best IM coach for an entry-level - intermediate level IM'er?

  • just my 2 cents.
i don't do any back linking for any of our sites.
all our back links are organic. ( another words we did not make them ourselves , random people decided to link to us of there own accord ) and all of our sites are on page 1. ( most above the fold , and some in the top spots )

so altho im prob going to get flamed for saying it... back links are not the be all end all.
  • I suppose you're right. :/

    I'll cut that part out.
  • At this point in your Internet marketing career. I believe you need more than just a mentor.

I would recommend learning how to outsource SEO work and have them use popular SEO tools and the guides that come with them to determine what works best for each site.

Get out there in the field and start testing and seeing what works for you before you let someone else come in and consult you on a business that has not yet found its roots.

It is my opinion that your money is best spent on hiring people to do the things that you do The time-consuming tasks so that you can focus on split testing and learning.
  • Chris Farrall's "Chris Mentor Me" program good for beginners but he dosen't teach SEO and backlinking... More List building and product creation etc.

  • Well, I do outsource, and I've found the type of product that seems to work for me in getting sales, but backlinking is the most convoluted subject of all time. It's seemingly impossible to get the backlinking game down right and there's very little rhyme or reason visible to someone like me. Like, if I have 5 pr4-6 backlinks, I'll still be beaten by a website with no backlinks at all, and then when I outsource more backlinks to give myself the edge, I'll just disappear and reappear pages back.

I always get this sort of thing, so I figured this time, so I don't fail, I should get someone to tell me when I'm doing something wrong because I just don't seem to be getting it.

    • Well in my opinion things are always changing and SEO game is all about having the right tools and outsourcing the work at a mass scale as you split test different methods you will eventually find what works for your sites.

You can get the SEO game down but you have to implement at a large-scale for beyond a couple of hours each day doing SEO work yourself Especially if you do not have the right tools.

Heck you can even get so good at the SEO game that you eventually find that there's a lack of tools to help you out and need to make your own (just my personal experience).

  • Thanks for the recommendation!

What's really strange is that my latest backlinking efforts involved outsourcing a double tiered backlink pyramid for a proper foundation. My site disappeared, reappeared many pages back, slowly crawled forward, then fell back down again, where it stayed.

Is it really my foundation? Is it their foundation? Am I outsourcing to the wrong people?

    • You're welcome for the recommendation. I stay away from all those pyramid things -- don't trust them. You could also be outsourcing people who don't know what they are doing or do a poor job, which is why I prefer to do things myself. I have only had something outsourced one time and saw improvement in my site.

I then learned to do it myself -- pride, I guess. I did lots of research beforehand. I write all my own content myself cause I don't trust anyone else to do it. With all the search engines rank, content could be a problem, too.

  • Outsource the SEO.
Look on the forum for SEO packages and purchase them for your site. In the long run it will save you time and effort and you will get the result you want.

  • SEO takes time... Analyse you completion's links and it might help you understand why they rank for your specific search term.

Remember though if you are in a competitive niche you may not have the budget to outrank you competitors.
  • If you search through the WSO section, you should find a few decent coaches, the best ones and most available for beginners seemed to be Shane Natan and Justin Popovic, don't know now if they are still offering coaching though. There were others as well, some didn't have a lot of background, some were too expensive, etc.
  • If you aren't experienced in SEO and a little confused by backlinking I would suggest outsourcing your SEO completely so you can spend you time creating profitable sites.

This will allow you to pick keywords and get an SEO person to do all the ranking work. Most SEO companies can actually do the keyword research for you based on great SEO keywords and great marketable keywords.

    Cheers,
    Dave
