How much traffic do you get per day?

I recently started a website about 2 months ago, and have been racking my brain so that I can get more traffic to it. Right now, i'm in the top 20 for all of my given search terms and they are all top performers of about 10-30k searches per month, however i'm only seeing a small portion of that. It gets discouraging to look at sometimes, and I'd just like to hear some of you guys/gals stories as a source of motivation. Has SEO helped your business, and if so by how much? Traffic?Conversion rate? etc. Thanks in advance.

Use Facebook,Twitter & Stumbleupon! Dont wait for people to find you, you find them! I learnt that mistake (especially when your out the box new website)

I get around 250-350 per day Website is only 3 months old, But it all depends on what niche your website is in etc etc

Best thing to do is try and get it out there with the social networks, get some people who can come back all the time and make a mailing list get them involved with offers on any products you maybe offering!

    Hope this helps.

It's funny how often i need to quote Why you Don’t Get Any Sales! Internet Marketing Math Explained
because those questions come up almost every day.

SOME people dont do proper keyword research, for example the use the wrong match types and then wonder why they dont get much traffic.

But what MOST people do is entirely under-estimate how extremely important a high search volume is...they go for micro niche keywords with only 3000 or so searches/month....which will yield LITERALLY NOTHING.

Please look over my above blog entry and you will understand.

If i am looking for niches/keywords right now i am at a point where i am going for 1000 *exact* match searches PER DAY...30.000 an up per month *EXACT*. Even then it will still depend on Google position heavily.

Anything below that will hardly make you peanuts UNLESS you are on top #1 or #2, forget any other position...especially if we are talking about smaller niches with only a few hundred searches A DAY.

Many, many people go the "safe" route and dabble in tiny niches with a few thousand searches/month....so...assume you are anywhere in Google page #1 (but NOT position #1 or #2)...you will hardly see any revenue.

I get around 200-300 visitors per day, but only half of that is from search engines. I picked keywords that were wayyyy too competitive when I started out, and I am too stubborn to give up because I feel that one day I will crack the top 10 and money will just flow in.

I get a lot of business from my SEO efforts.

Being in the top 20 isn't that beneficial. You really need to be on the first page of Google to see a lot of traffic.

Even though SEO is important to my business, the two best sources of traffic are affiliates and JV partners.

Lastly, I've done very well with Direct Media Buying.

Even if you were #1 in Google, I would still suggest looking at other traffic sources as you don't want to rely on just one.

Get your keywords higher than just top 20.

There is a very small percent of people that actually click past page 1 anyway, and even then, position 1 page 1 gets around 50% of the clicks from that search term anyway.

Work on getting to position 1 for the majority of your keywords and you should see a huge difference in traffic from where you are now.

    Cheers,
    Dave

I'm not sure. I have had my website for 7 years. In June it was hacked into and since then I had my entire website done over. It is much more secure and better, overall. I am so glad I had it done over with a wordpress Blog. That is critical. Everytime I post it goes to my facebook and LinkedIn accounts. I am a member of about 50 groups at LinkedIn all who get my blog posts. It really helps to have a wordpress blog to go with your website. In addition, I only post stuff relevant to my site, like news related to what my customers are interested in. In addition, I spend about 2 to 3 hours a day searching for companies to do link exchanges with who have similar customers. (I think that is very important so that we can share the same customers.)
My website is for academic and research writing and editing. Many Japanese researchers visit my website since I advertise in Japan; and I lived in Japan for 6 years.

You really need to get your keywords on Page 1. Everything else is such a low percentage of the traffic it is next to useless unless a very high volume term. Some niches/info searchers will look beyond page 1 but they typically don't convert to buyers.

      Page 1 number 1 gets around 42%
      number 2 around 30%
      number 3 around 17%
      the rest 2-3%

(very approx numbers, lots of factors can change that)

so not being in the top three for anything other than very high search volume terms is not good.

On the plus side if you have any traffic at all on page 2 you will see a huge improvement pushing to page 1. And if on page 1 you will see a huge improvement moving t the top three.

So more backlinking I'm afraid to get the keywords ranked higher.

That only fixes your traffic. Your conversions are an entirely different matter...........

tony has it more or less right on this one. i really do believe in SEO if you get it right and target the right keywords, have sniper sites that is monetized to convert and squeeze money from all that effort.

Im still awaiting real results from social traffic and not interested in untargeted traffic because numbers mean nothing if it doesn't make you money!!

A couple of my sites gets around 10,000 visitors a day, one gets traffic mainly from search engines.

Which means most of it is just passing by, and not really in the spending mood. Which, in my book, makes it almost worthless.

The other gets traffic from the mainstream media... now that's valuable traffic.

Tens of thousands daily in our network (several sites working together) but I started 12 years ago.

Michael, it takes time. It's harder to get traffic in 2011 than even 5 years ago. The net is getting congested. You need a fresh idea, something that people want and you have to work your living tail off to conquer it. It can be done but very few do it. It takes incredible work, focus, sacrifice, commitment and especially patience.

For me coming up, SEO and keyword buying was at the core of most of it. I was buying keywords back before a lot of people even knew what they were. You could get them at a penny a piece back then! I bid on thousands of them. And I was constantly learning how to optimize the sites for the search engines. Most of it worked perfectly and we enjoy top placement in our primary industry, music gifts.

My motivation came from the passion of what I loved and reading motivational books.

    Good luck!

I get 0, created my site 4/5 days ago, and google still hasn't giving me my ad-sense ads, is stuck on "pending", which is annoying, they're wasting my time, I want to conquer the internet but I can't do that, or rather, choose not to do that until my site is monetized. Waiting on CPA networks to accept me too so I can rotate their crap and maybe even write a post about an item I like. I'm in the weight loss arena, which, in hindsight, I probably should of chose something else, lot here talk about how much money is there, but the competition is incredible too.

I know many factors come in to this answer, But how many visitor per day = affiliate income (say Adsense).

Obviously it all comes down to if you selected the correct niche, website is set up correctly, but what do experienced warriors expect to make from their niche sites/visitors?

I better get 100 buying visitors than 1000 who never buys so the key is targeting buying keyword then striving to be in Google page 1. I have found for most keywords its easy for a new video to get to Google page 1 than a new site. One of my site is getting less that 500 visitors per day from Google and I'm very comfortable with it since I have only targeted buying keywords

100-200+ A day, most of which is from social media and this forum. Our site isn't even complete yet, as the above people have mentioned. Spread and advertise your site with social networks etc.. Go looking for your customers, either that or continue to create content. Give it a bit of time once you've been around a little while and you've settled into the ranks of the search engines/ social sites you'll steadily increase those numbers.

yes, there are so many sites online, do not wishing others find you. but you do.
besides, about how many traffic, there do not have a standard. we all know the more the better, but, you need not do this, what you need is surpass your competitors. if they have one, you need two. if they have 100, you need 120. that's the point.

One of the most important parts in gaining traffic is in getting to page one on Google for your related keyword phrases. If you can do this and gain a good position on page one then, by the law of averages you will gets lots of organic traffic and potential sales.

It depends on the site - some of my sites get over 6000 views in a day and others get a few hundred.

The main thing is what is happening with the traffic - JUST having high page views means nothing in itself except that you will get a bigger bandwidth bill!
