So, should you build a list on product review sites?

However, does building a list really apply to product review-type sites? What exactly would you email your list about if your site only contains reviews about a certain type of product? Furthermore, what if your product isn't a fast-moving consumable good meaning that people only purchase one of that type of product and don't purchase any more for a very long time (if ever)?
Honestly...... IMHO I believe it would be a very rare thing on a review site that is primarily designed to make affiliate income. You do not want a leak from your page, especially if your whole goal is to get them from your review page to the affiliate product landing page.........

Unless that review site also has not only reviews but lots of authoratative content, meant to not only bring in income from affiliate reviews but to help you build a list of people interested in what your dishing out in your niche........

Again, I could see it happening but only under very controlled and planned out circumstances..

    Hi,

yes the process is the same. If someone is looking for a review is because it is interested on that topic or market so when they are trying to leave, putting a pop up saying that you have a free report that reveals the best strategies to choose a good.......(fill in the market or product) than it would be something that would convert pretty well.

You could email sales and coupons on the products you promote. I agree, it's harder building a list on a review site, but not impossible.

You could create a separate landing page with a strong incentive and drive traffic to that landing page and then in a follow up email direct them to a coupon or sales page or a great review on your site. This way you build a list and get them to a web page of your choice.

Indeed, why not. But as with most things - test it yourself and see how it goes in your niche.

As above, you can mail them news and tips about their area of interest. But there will always be new products coming out in that niche - so as you add new reviews, tell them about those too. We're obsessed with upgrading don't forget!

Depending on the niche there may also be related products that would interest them. They may have bought the fancy coffee machine, but now they need a coffee grinder... or a great supplier of beans... or flavoured syrups... or a guide to making great coffee :-)
