how about an Internet Marketing Wiki site?

I had today an idea of building an internet marketing encyclopedia site.
something like wikipedia for IM. I registered a domain (impedia.org)
and started thinking about how can this work.

wikipedia has a huge content which is written by people who contribute for free.
But I think it will be hard to find such people in a new wiki with no visitors and no content.
Revenue sharing would be an incentive. But there won't be any revenue at the beginning.

any advice?
any problems i might have?
what do you think about my idea?

    No-one can tell you if you if it'll fail or be a success. Start adding contact and see if traffic comes.

      post/edit permissions should be restricted to a small number of trusted users. i wonder how can wikipedia allow anyone to edit articles and still not being full of spam.

        Well, i think they have a business model that involves volunteer checking of content by other web surfers. And they have volunteer admins checking the viability of the system

        I think it's worth a shot. However, we also have to note that the world of Internet Marketing is not as static as most of the stuff on Wikipedia, which is pretty much fixed, with minor adjustments from time to time. Plus we also have to remember you're competing with another viable source of free information. Places like this forum, and other sites like Ezinearticles, Squidoo, where there are tons of useful and free info similar to the wiki model are your direct competitors.

        Unless there is a place you can add value where the others didn't see it, and its a strong, first mover kind of thing, you're pretty much replicating that model.

        Otherwise its a great idea, but it has to be abit more sharpened.

    The idea seems good,

    Problems, controlling people from blasting spam ads on it, but you could have moderators to check the posted stuff, before it is live.

    Advice, - I would have a page dedicated to me, impedia.org/matt-morgan

    and aslong as somebody in the future doesn't make one called ImLeaks.com.

    Everyone wish to get backlink and traffic from wikipedia, that is why everyone is submit free article for wikipedia.
    If you wish to like him, you need to make sure you have quality content like them, high traffic and Good Page Rank. Then it time to monetise your impedia.org.
