How old is my website?

I registered my domain about 3 months ago but the site has been only been created with content added to it 1 month ago. So is my site 3 months old or 1 month  does the site age go with the age of the domain:confused:

Thanks

    Domain name age matters.

Your "site" is one month old. Your "domain" is three months old.

People say domain age matters, but only if it has real age - measured in years.

I can't vouch for that as I've never used a dropped domain (as in, one that's been used before and has age). I'd guess that it matters because the domain has existing backlinks. Maybe someone with more experience can clarify that?

The domain creation date is a concrete, publicly accessible figure, but I doubt it's the only thing the search engines go by, they are bound to keep some historical records of their own.

I would not be surprised to hear that they maintain some internal 'first indexed' figure that can be reset by some circumstance, like the web presence completely vanishing, then reappearing months later with completely different content, as when a 10 year old domain is picked up in auction.
