How to keep your subscribers...

I am on a lot of autoresponder lists and it just occurred to me that most people are sending out their emails WITHOUT letting their subscribers know how and why they are on the list.

WHY is this important?

Because we get tons of emails, most of which are spam. How many of you just mark most of them as junk when you don't identify with the sender? I do, so I was just sitting here wishing I could remember some of the important people I wanted to keep, otherwise I'll lose them when I flag them as junk or spam.

I've been wondering why I haven't received updates to many of the WSOs I've purchased and it's because I junked their last email, never to see them again!

Would you like to avoid this problem and keep more of your subscribers?

I still use this format on ALL the emails I send:

You are receiving this information with your purchase of PRODUCT NAME
on: DATE. You may stop receiving information by using the link
at the bottom of this notification.

Next time I see an email from an IMer that has this type of information, I can accurately assess if I want to keep it or junk it!! :p

    Awesome idea.

How do you get the purchase date into your autoresponder (obviously without adding it manually)?

    • Hi Mick!

Each autoresponder should have this option for the date the subscriber was added.

For example, in Aweber you would use {!signdate sd}.

I use it for purchases, newsletters, etc.

Gail that is a Tremendous idea. I see this same problem all the time. I get emails, that I don't even recognize why I was on the list in the first place!! It would benefit the receiver and the sender. Thanks.

Great idea this works for me. Also- please dont use a misleading subject line because I am so over that and will unsubscribe- eg- you just made a sale- or I have been trying to contact you, or re your account information. The subject line should be relevent to the email content or there is nothing more annoying!
