WOrdpress Site Doesn't Sign Up New Users As Author When I need it too

Hey there everyone. I understand that I can go to general settings and change the default role to author but it's just a "default" role.

Does anyone know how I can configure my wordpress site to only allow new users to be Authors?

Is there a plugin for this?

Do I have to take out the other options from a php file or something?

    I am not sure I understand your question (and I, usually, can guess pretty much what people want to ask about WP... when they are clueless).

    What do you mean by "just default"?

    Do I understand it well - you want your registrants to be Authors? Is that right?
    And why doesn't it work when you set the 'default' role as Author for registrants?

    You set that in your Settings > General. They sign up and instantly they are Authors, with all the privileges and capabilities that come with that level.

    Maybe it's better if you forget for a moment the technicalities you see in the wp-admin... and tell in plain English what you want to achieve?

    Usually people like authors are manually but you can get member plugins like Wishlist Member and MemberWing that can control members and even allow them to be set to different levels of member permissions too.

    There may be other ways with plugins but those are two tools we use on our member sites.

    What I'm trying to accomplish is forcing the UAW plugin only sign up the users as Authors and not Contributors.

    Is there a plugin that only allows wordpress to sign new comers up as authors and don't give an option to let new comers sign up as contributors?

      Read again your own post... and compare it to your thread title.

      You have an issue with your PLUGIN, not WordPress itself.

      Which means you should ask in the plugin's support forum.

      (What you said in your posts above: I am looking for a plugin that would tell my plugin to do things differently...) :rolleyes:
