KompoZer Help!

Is there someone here who's knowledgeable about KompoZer? I'm having a heck of a time getting this program to open. I also need help with publishing.

    Hi Christie,

    I use KompoZer to create my sites. For a while I've considered it buggy, although I have not taken the time to look for a better solution.

    For example often when I have three different html pages open and move between the three, the program crashes.

    And these days I'm in prelaunch for a mega-product launch, and when I open a table created in KompoZer, I see it's fine in Firefox yet the text is wrapping funny in Explorer.

    ...Anyway, I'm not sure I could assist with getting it to open. I've always just clicked on Start and gone up to its icon and clicked on that.

    For publishing, I have not used that option in KompoZer (if there is such a function).

    I always use FileZilla for that, just transferring the HTML pages from MyWebsites to the right directory online.

    Let me know if I may take a shot at more specific questions.

    P.S. Hmm. If OpenOffice came out with its version of FrontPage, I doubt I'd use KompoZer ever again!

    Hey Christie! I use Kompozer too - try un-installing it and re-install if you can't get it to open.

    Not sure if this would help - but also always good for anyone to do - if you don't have it..get yourself a copy of ccleaner (its free) , from filehippo-

    stands for 'crap cleaner' by the way?

    And once you open that - you can clean up your PC..

    I strongly urge you to use Seamonkey. It's free and maintained. I own a legal copy of Dreamweaver but prefer Seamonkey. I have also used Nvu.

      Seamonkey? I haven't heard of Seamoney before, but I'll check it out.

      Yes, I've tried NVU as well and I'm not able to publish the site. I was on the phone with Hostgator yesterday for over an hour, finally they told me to contact NVU. All NVU has is an email. I sent them message regarding my issue, but haven't received a response yet.

    Christie,

    Seamonkey is an older version of KompoZer.

    It is an open source code software and all started as the Mozilla Suite. Then a newer version called Seamonkey was next. Seamonkey had some security issues so the next one was Nvu.

    Nvu is buggy and locks up. I've not had much trouble with it, but others have. KompZer at kompozer.net is it replacement.

    I wonder if you have a bad download. Might try downloading it again and reinstall. I've not tried it in Vista yet.

    There is a good, detailed, free tutorial for Nvu (works the same as Kompozer) at thesitewizard.com (Not an affiliate for me)

    The only thing different that I can see in KompoZer is they moved the layer icon to a different location.

      Thanks for your posts and history about KomperZer. Very helpful... I have a video script I've placed on my squeeze page with KomperZer but it needs to be centered. I've tried a couple different ways to make that happen; no luck. Can any of you tell me how to accomplish this?

        I think that Kompozer is actually one of the best freeware concerning this type of software and I'm not encountering such big problems... If you need any help, I'll be happy to do something ! Anyway, as said before, you surely need to install it all over again ! By the way, when I work on my websites I also use this amazing online tool : Real-time HTML Editor

          Yes, a very interesting tool! What I know about html I could place on my little finger. Wish there were a tool that would work in reverse! When you're trying to center a video in a script you have, do you know what html tag you'd use to center that video?

        Use the alignment tool (icon) to make it align in the center, or if it's the code that you need to insert again use the alignment tool, then select "Insert" then "HTML" (or Advanced I forget which) then paste the code into the popup box.

    Kompozers FTP is buggy, I never got it to work. Instead use a free FTP program like filezilla or do a browser upload from your Cpanel.
