Business Cards [Internet Marketing Advice]

Hello everyone,

I operate a small printing business in Ottawa, Canada. We specialize in premium printing (matte laminate, spot uv, high grade card stocks etc..).

One of our most popular products is Business Cards. I feel at this point that we have a pretty decent online website, it may not be the best, but far from the worst out there. (please feel free to have a look and provide feedback in this thread)

Pretty soon we will be launching a full e-commerce version of our website and offering print services across Canada & the US.

Anyhow, I am very interested to start a discussion with fellow warriors about good avenues, tips & tricks, etc for online marketing a business of this type [or similar].

Currently there are a small selection of forums that we promote our business on and of course we use google adwords. Our SEO rankings are improving steadily, at least for our local area (I doubt very much if we rank well at all globally).

In any case, I'm open to ideas/suggestions/comments...

Also, if anyone here is interested in getting some fantastic business cards made up, please feel free to get in touch I'd be more then glad to help you out (we also have graphic designers who do some great work in this regard).

      Just cutting to the chase may have sped things up, you have tended to waffle too much.

    Hello tcalp, you are only a couple hours away from me! Montreal here. Anyhow I would have to say that your website looks very professional, but I couldn't find any samples of previous orders you did. You have prices for 1000, 3000 and 6000 cards, but when clicked they all bring you to the top of the page. It would be much nicer to have a separate page with a table that shows prices for 1000, 2000, 3000 etc cards. Also you have an addon to round the corners, but those measurements mean nothing to an inexperienced buyer... You need examples and pictures of such cards to facilitate the descisions.

      What a wonderfully small word , I actually lived in Montreal on Decarie Blvd. for a while a few years ago.

      The business card section has a large gallery on the page (is this not visible in your browser ?). The other pages don't have galleries setup yet as I, for now am just looking to perfect the business cards section before moving onto a different area.

      As for the 'clicking' going no-where, these will be going to an e-commerce section of the site which is not live yet (pretty close) which would take the user to detail pages for different types of business cards , and other type of print.

      I do appreciate you pointing out the rounded corners though, I had not considered that myself. I will look to include an image / graph showing the size options.

    Tcalp, very nice website.. I like the design.. In regards to marketing the site have to tried affiliate marketing? It seems like the simplest way to start marketing your product online.. Adwords seems pretty competitive and expensive for the keyword "business cards".. How have your results been with Adwords?

    Also, I couldn't find your social network accounts on your website.. You should at least be on Facebook and Twitter..

      I am currently on twitter, but haven't setup a company page on FaceBook, it's strange. I pretty much grew up on the internet but when all these social medias became an interesting way to market a business online I never really picked up on it all that well. I know that it is something I need to learn more about.

      I know that the e-commerce suite that we are launching will have an affiliate system built-in. I have never taken part in affiliate marketing before though, but I'd be happy to pay out $10 per sale, or similar ? Do you think that would attract affiliates ?

      Google adwords of course brings in business, but by the time you pay for all the clicks in that don't purchase your pretty much breaking even. ~~ At least this has been my experience, my CPC ranges between ~$1-$2

    Anyone care to chime in with regards to Affiliate marketing ?

    Is offering a reward per sale (eg. $10 / $20) generally acceptable ?

    Are there good websites for making people aware of your program so that they can sign up ?
