570 hops and no sales. How many hops till I headbutt the wall?

by fin

Has anyone had any exeptionally high hops without sales before they started making money?

It doesn't look promosing so far.

I've basically got an information website with links in the pics telling people they can make money online.

I've recently ordered an article from a warrior about making money.

When I recieve it, I will point the links to this page so my hops will be more targeted but after that, I don't know what to do.

I have about 2400 visitors so far but I want this per day when my keywords hit number 1.

Is their sales page really that bad, unless your somehow not prepping them properly, I'd say forget it and move on. Getting there from image clicks makes me think they are hopping by accident.

So where's the urgency to buy from you? Look at HOW you are marketing! You have an information blog - so does everybody else! You put links in your pics - so does everybody else! Now you went and got an article about making money - so has everybody else!

Listen, you have to pre-sell the person clicking on the ad. Right now, all you have are curious seekers (maybe targeted), curiously clicking on your links and they curiously see the offer and they CURIOUSLY move on without buying. That's exactly what you have set up for and thats what you're getting.

You need to provide more than just information - provide solutions. Give em more than just an article and a graphic - give them some great advice and move them into the offer: use video reviews.

Then have them fill in their name and email to get some more information that will solve their problem and after your email collection send them to the sales page!

What has happened? They have already clicked to get more info, you got their email for your list AND they are primed and ready for the offer. They feel they have more knowledge and that they are close to having the solution to their problem. They already gave and clicked - now they are ready to buy!

You won't get the high numbers of curiousity seekers this way, but you will get more engaged visitors while building your list at the same time.

I think everybody has to work more on each offer than trying to throw hundreds of offers at visitors with little or no prepping!

Yeah thats some good advice there.

I might also put up a few articles on what they can do if they have a passive online income ie travel the world, work from anywhere etc

Do you think pre-selling them with the benefits of making money online is a good idea?

I know if I read about all the things I could do from anywhere in the world, i'd be sold on trying out online marketing.

        Exactly what he said.

You need present them a problem they might have and then offer them a solution to that problem. The secret to selling is solving a problem they didn't know they had.

In this case, since your niche is making money online - remind them how dull and boring their life is. Then tempt them on. You get the picture.

No, the sales pages look good to me.

The first one 400+ clicks I bought myself through the sales page.

The second one I was tempted to.

Maybe I'm not pre-selling them good enough. I will find out when I use the article im getting and take it from there.

      Sorry i dont get you.

Who generated the hops? Who generated the 400 hops?

You know a "hop" is if people click on your affiliate link and they land on the VENDOR page usually.

If you had 400 - 500 real hops (visitor clicking on offer and seeing the VENDOR sales page) and you did not have ONE sale it's not your pre-sell, people are simply turned off by the sales page.

You can pre-sell as good as you want..i am afraid that there must be something very off-putting on the vendor page and even your pre-sell cant help there a lot anymore. My $0.02

Yea, it does help if you buy the product you are promoting. That way, you can write a review and create a bonus that would enhance the product. This would further entise the visitor to buy.

I don't really agree with that.

It's a bit like telling people with larger frames to stay away from the losing weight niches.

I do know the products I promote work because i've heard from people who have had success with them but thanks for your opinion.

I do understand what your saying. I just don't think newbies could't sell MMO products with success.

Ofcourse from an ethical perspective it might be different.

I just want to start of making money tbh and because im new at this, MMO is something im obviously passionate about.

Lookat it this way. When i've sold my first product I will have already made enough to cover the first and only MMO product i've bought so I will now to taking from experience.

I'd change products but ive already build a site in which MMO is the obvious product to market and i've spent about £100 on backlinks etc.

I will stay out of the MMO on my next sites until i've started to make money.

If you got that many hops without an order then I would switch the product with another one.

Check your stats to see what keywords people are typing in to get to your site and then put up a product that fits those words the best that you can.

If you don't have Google Analytics on your site then that is the first think I would do.

    What a great idea Terry.

570 hops and only 3 order page impressions? That sales page must be exceptionally bad. You should have already dumped that at 120 ish hops and no sale - even measured on clickbank averages hops etc....570 hops and no sale are VERY bad.

Sorry... I'm all with ncmedia on this one. If you have no idea about ranking a site, driving traffic or even picking a product that will convert how can you promote a product in the MMO niche?

And what is this? ===> "The first one 400+ clicks I bought myself through the sales page."

You bought clicks through the sales page? Are you promoting a product that is showing you how to promote it through buying traffic?

And this? ===> "I have about 2400 visitors so far but I want this per day when my keywords hit number 1. "

How are you going to get your keywords to hit number one? Using that article that you bought that you're going to use to point the links to your page?

Sorry I should have been more clear.

I've had about 590 hops though 20 of those were me clicking through the links on my site to test if my affiliate code were in the payment page.

The 3 order form impressions were from me clicking through the buy now button on the page to test it.

The product im promoting and had 400 hops was a product that I bought last month so I know its a good product.

I never bought it through my link as I bought it before I had a website.

Unfortunately I did find a leak which I was disappointed about. I only tested this when I read a thread on here yesterday.

Once they fill out their emails on the sales page to watch extra videos. The first email they get sent the next day steals my affiliate code.

So if people dont buy straight away, I lose my comission.

I tried another product last night and had 100+ in about 24 hrs but also no buys.

Ive now switched over from MMO products on the front page but going to have a dedicated MMO section because ive already paid $40 for an article

The 3 hops were my own actually so its 0 hops.

I think to be fair, I tried to force the hops on them without any pre-sell.

I've changed the hops on the home page and im actually going to dedicate a proper page to MMO once I get my article.

The product with 400+ hops doesnt have a bad sales page.

Its the product I bought when I first got into IM and it taught me how to get to the top page of google, build a wp website and lots of other things so its a great product for $100.

I dont know why it never sold.

The majority is through 2 of my main keywords.

The rest is from my other keywords, long tail keywords I happen to be high in google for + probably some articles/social bookmarking i've done.

I checked my site and its had about 3,500 so far so my hop link % is pretty good I think. Just can't make a sale.

I've now changed products related to my main 2 keywords so i'll see if that makes any difference.

Yeah and my keywords aren't targeted to MMO products or any products for that matter.

As I said above, I just think my visitors would benefit from MMO.

I don't expect to make sales from the majority of visitors since it's not targeted but a few would be nice.

      I don't think I have Paul.

The website I have isn't about MMO

But MMO would be effective for people interested in my website.

So the theory is to get MMO visitors through a back door if you know what I mean.

If you don't, I'll give you an example.

If you make a surf website for people who love surfing and would love to surf around the world.

Say to them, hey, here is some info on surfing around the world. But did you know, if you MMO you could surf around the world and work 10 hours a week from your computer.

Always, always check their sales pages...don't promote those scammers who lure YOUR traffic with their "free stuff" away from sales. That vendor knows exactly what he is doing.

This is a huge problem and I don't think I've made any money off of any sites that offer an optin for a free report or mini course. Of course, there are vendors out there that offer free reports, swipe files, books branded with your own affiliate link to help build your own list. There are some good vendors out there still. Check those affiliate pages!

Yeah I'm linking the pics straight to the sales page with a catchy title on how they can MMO but I fail to mention anything about cost.

That's why I will link them to the article i'm going to put up in the future. So they get an idea of what they are clicking on.

I'll mention something about the cost now, just so they know what to expect.

Screw that... get an aweber account and start building a list. If it's a wordpress blog you can put a couple optins... a free report on how to make money online, if you want... another closely related to whatever your site is about. Search the clickbank marketplace and see if there is anything. If your site really is about surfing, there are affiliate programs for all sorts of stuff out there... travel related stuff.

Capture that traffic, build a relationship with them, feed them cool stuff and then suggest stuff that you are an affiliate for.

You can get plr reports for a couple of bucks that are great for building a list if you don't feel comfortable writing something yourself.

Thanks, I'll give that a try.

I was going to go into list building eventually but didn't want to get an adweber account until I had a few sites or more visitors.

I can see how this would be a good way to go though so they don't need to get their CC cards out straight away.

I've heard lots on PLR and need to investigate it more.

The site is about travel but surfing was an example of why they might like to MMO

If you get them to your site you can sell to them once. You send them to that vendor's site with the optin page, he gets to sell to them for weeks, months or years. YOU get them on YOUR list and YOU get to sell to them for weeks, months or years. The value of someone on your list is almost always higher than sending them directly to the sales page. You can expose them to your offer so many more times. You have access to them any time you want.

That sound like a better idea than selling to them once.

I will try and draft a 7 part email marketing campaign this weekend and put something together then add it to the site.

I might just include the new article im going to get as the last email of the campaign.

I already have a copy of digi list builder and I dont know how it works yet but I know I can cut and paste the HTML from adweber into digi list builder.

Thanks for the advice. I think it will work better than the cold sell.

I promoted a product this week on Clickbank that's converting 1 in 7 hops. It's not about how much traffic you drive there it's the quality of the traffic that matters. For example, are you preselling the visitor with a review video? Are you offering a free bonus to them for buying? Are you genuinely trying to help them or are you promoting something that gives no value to your customer?

    Just some food for thought

I had 100 hops to a CB ebook and no sale. Actually the first page the visitor gets to see once they click the link is an opt-in page, and if they submit their address they get to see the sales page. They get 2 emails, one with my affilate link in it and the better one with vendor's link. Uh. But it's the only book in that niche on CB. I'm thinking to make my own book

I just read all the replies from this thread, and it seems that many of you really know what they are talking about. So maybe you can help me with some advices too.
I have 3 blogs where I tried to promote CB products (see my signature) and in the last 3 months I only got a lot of clicks (around 500) and just one sale. In detail:

    - the House Music blog - 190 hops - 1 sale
    - the Bodybuilding blog - 180 hops - 0 sales
    - the Gaming blog - 130 hops - 0 sales

I know that I've just use images to get people to my links, and I did managed to get a lot of clicks...but no sales. By the way...I used some of the best converting products on my niches!

So what strategies do you suggest, that may also fit to my topics?
I think that having a list of people to send emails to may not suit with my blogs.

    Thanks in advance!

I would get rid of the banners that you are using at the top of your pages and instead use text links with a call to action that tell the reader to click here. The way it is right now when I went to your pages I just ignored the banners totally thinking that they are headers for the sites.

If you want a banner then put it a little further down the page so it won't be confused as a header of you site or put it in the side bar to draw attention to your opt in form.

A big part of conversions is selling what people want to buy.

For example, your bodybuilding site is promoting an ebook. I am sure you can get sales with an ebook but I think you would attract many more buyers if you promoted stuff like bodybuilding supplements in that market.

And your other site was promoting how to mix music. With just a quick glance I would say that they want to buy house music and not learn how to mix.

Not sure what to sell to the free online gamers. I would probably try to send them to the game sites like World of Warcraft where they are promoting free to play games and then hook you in to buy stuff later.

A big part of deciding what to sell is just visit other sites that are already in the niche that you want to enter and see what they are selling.

There is a pretty good chance that they already did all the homework for you to find out what sells best and all you have to do is sell the same thing they are.

    Hope that helps you some,
    Terry

It doesn't look promosing so far.
Your conversion rate (sales/hops) will depend on the quality of your traffic. Where is your traffic coming from? Do they actually want to buy what you are offering them, or are they just arriving at your page by chance?

Focus on highly targeted traffic and you will be amazed what it can do for your sales.
For example, I made around 45 sales last month from about 2,000 highly targeted visitors to one of my websites.
Why? Well because they actually wanted to buy what I was selling them.

You should either abandon the make money niche or change your approach.

The problem with make money products is that your prospects are very likely to have their own CB accounts. So when they are convinced by the sales page, they will simply buy through their own link.

What you need to do is convince them not only to buy the product, but to buy it through YOUR link. Someone above suggested that you could create a bonus - that's one way of doing it. Your prospects get your great bonus, for free, but ONLY if they buy through your link.
