I have installed a WP plugin forum but I need some help with something

Hi folks

I have installed a WP forum plugin and it has all gone extremely well considering I have never done anything like this before. I have had someone doing certain tasks for me on this website and one of the things he did was to install some buttons, one of which was put there for me for when a forum was added. I have added that forum but now I have the forum button on page 9 and the forum is loaded on page 23. How do I get the forum under the forum button? (I hope this makes sense, LOL)

Looking forward to a resolution to this because I feel so pleased with myself that I have achieved this all by myself, but this little thing is alluding me, I just can't work out how to change them over

Thanks in anticipation

Cheers
Viv

    Hi Viv,

I want to help, but I don't really understand your question.

What do you mean by "forum button" and "forum installed on page 23."

Usually the forum is on something like mysite.com/forum or mysite.com/blog/forum.

    Is your site like that?

      Hi Joe

Thank you for responding to my request for help

Have a look at my site I Married A Fat Bitch (URL in sig) and you will see it is a wordpress site, I have just installed a forum from the Swordfish site called Simple Press forum, a plugin forum. It has installed on page 23 of my site but I have had someone do some work for me on the site and they installed a forum button that is page 9. When someone clicks on this Forum button, I would like them to be opening in the forum. Does that make more sense ?

When I go to the forum page located at:

I Married A Fat Bitch Forum

I just see the title "Forum" and a blank page surrounded by the two side bars.

The forum doesn't seem to be installed properly.

Once you get that fixed, you just need to change the link under the lady's foot to point to that 23 page and you will be all set.

Thanks for visiting the site. In the documentation it says that it needs to have a MySQL version of 4.2 and above otherwise it might not create the tables properly. It did seem to install alright and I am seeing the forum in the admin area, so I have sent off an email to my webhost because I have looked to see what version of MySQL the fat bitch site installed under and it is 4.1 so maybe this has something to do with it. I am completely green with all of this and this is only my third time that I have installed anything into the plugins of a wordpress site and I thought it was all going so well

If you have anymore to add I would welcome your opinion and if not, then thanks for your time

          Cheers

        Hi,

It looks like you have two pages marked "Forum"

        http://www.imarriedafatbitch.com/?page_id=9
        http://www.imarriedafatbitch.com/?page_id=23

Those links are found in the left sidebar.

The top horizontal menu's Forum button points to
        http://www.imarriedafatbitch.com/?page_id=9

If you want it to point to http://www.imarriedafatbitch.com/?page_id=23
then I suggest you delete the Forum page (which is empty anyway) identified
by WordPress as page ID 9.

        Kind regards,
        Manuel Viloria

          Thanks for your input Manuel

I knew that I had two forum pages, one of them being a button prepared for when I installed a forum, the other has been created by the installation of the forum plugin. I don't know why the forum page (page 23) isn't showing the forum, I know why page 9 isn't showing the forum and initially my question was, how do I make the forum page (23) become page 9 but it would appear that I may have a more serious problem because of the fact that the version of MySQL isn't high enough and it may have upset the tables I could be wrong and I hope I am and that it is very simple to fix but I don't know how to fix it

          Cheers

            Hi anyone??? who can help

My forum isn't showing up so after reading some of the help answers, one them states "page not showing" says to check the themes 'header.php' and if you don't see <?php wp_head();?> before the closing head</head> tag to add it in and save the template.

Does it matter where I put it? I will paste the code that is between the <head> and the </head> and if someone could tell me where to put it so I don't upset the code, I will appreciate it
